Question about D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router

2 Answers

My computer crashed and I used the recovery disk to fix it. I tried installing the d-link router, but it wont install so I call tech support, they told me bunch of craps and it still says address not valid but whenever I hook on the cable directly I get access from the internet . So it only shows that I have a problem with the router and not with my internet.

Hi
since your computer crashed might be possible that the setting of the router might have got deleted.
you might need to configure the rotuer once agaon and you can do this by following these steps .
1st connect the modem and router to your computer .inoder to check that your computer is communicating with the router you need to follow these steps "click start" go to "run" in run type "cmd" once you do this it will give you a black window their type "ipconfig" and then hit enter check that what number you are getting for default gateway note that number in a peace of paper and then open up internet explorer and type http://defaultgateway number and then hit enter once you do this it will give you a window that will ask for user name and password do the needfull and then you would be able to get into the router page of your computer that will help you to configure the router once again .
if this doesnot work please try to hard reset the router and then try to reenter the setup with the help of the router cd that might have come with the router .
if again some problem come please revert back on fixya and i would love to solve your issue

Reset the router -
straighten out a paper clip
find the RESET button
plug the router in
put the paper clip into the RESET hole for 10 seconds - you will see the lights blink or go out most likely - but not always.
AFTER YOU DO THE ABOVE - - :
Remember to plug your cable from your cable modem into the correct part - have a look HERE

My HP 8020N is beeping with some blue instructions, it crashes and beebs then repeat the same thing when trying to rebooth

You are experiencing what we affectionately call "The Blue Screen of De##h", which is causing the PC to crash and reboot in a never-ending cycle. There are a few things that you can try to fix the situation. The first, and easiest, is to press the F8 key during bootup and try to go to SAFE MODE. If you can do that, then you can go to SYSTEM PROPERTIES under COMPUTER, select the SYSTEM PTOTECTION tab, and click on SYSTEM RESTORE. This will allow you to roll the computer back to a previous configuration, since it is likely that the crash could be caused by a corrupted or failed update. If you cannot get to SAFE MODE during bootup, you options get more limited. Most PCs today do not come with a Windows Installation disk, so using that and booting in the REPAIR area is not likely an option. This leaves you with either reinstalling using the recovery disk set (if you have one) or with the recovery partition. The downside of these options is that they overwrite ALL information in the disk, meaning all of your personal files will be gone. What you CAN do if you have access to another desktop PC is to shut down you computer, remove the hard disk, and install it as a second drive on the other desktop. It won't boot to the disk, so it can't crash. But you will be able to see the file structure on that disk and can recover personal files to a USB stick or other external media before replacing the disk in your system and using the recovery method(s) described above.

NOT ABLE TO INSTALL WINDOW XP

Hi meetabdullah,

Have a nice day.

If you're running Windows XP and your computer software crashes or becomes unusable, you may have to run Windows XP recovery to reestablish your software and make your computer usable once again. When purchased, many computers don't come with a Windows XP recovery disk, but you can download one for free. The Windows XP recovery disk holds almost all of the computer software and files that came loaded with your PC and can assist you in rebuilding your hard drive.

Here are some instructions that somehow could help you:

1.Place a formatted disk in your disk drive. Click on the "Download a Windows XP recovery disk from Microsoft" link in Resources below. Click "Download." Then click "Save." Find your disk drive on the menu and click "OK."

2. Remove the disk when the Windows XP recovery disk download is complete, and place it in the computer on which you need to use it.

3.Shut down your computer; then turn your computer back on. Your computer will automatically start up running on the Windows XP recovery disk, which will allow you to install Windows XP once again.

I Have a dell inspiron 1720 and im geting NTLDR FILE IS MISSING error. when i use the install disk that came with it and select repair start up it runs saying it looking for errors but it never stops. its...

This basically means the hard disk is having problems (although could happen on an OS crash with out damaging the disk). First thing I would try is a diagnostic to check the disk. Download something like Ultimate Boot Disk. This utility disk (bootable CD) has lots of diagnostic tools including testing the disk.
NTLDR file is a Windows NT file that is used to boot the operating system. It is created during the installation and is custom for each system.

If the disk contain the Vista install, you can reinstall the OS. You will first be asked if you want to repair the OS, select no. It will then say it found a copy of Vista installed and ask if you want to repair it, say yes. This will do a repair with out deleting your data or programs. You will need to do all the Window updates before trying to run any programs as they will probably be expecting new files that the ones on the disk that came with the computer.

NOTE: If you are not confident do either of these procedures, ask someone who has more skill. When doing the diagnostics or the reinstall, if you do it incorrectly it will wipe your disk.

Dell Inspiron's also come with a built in recovery tool. I do not remember the Function key to hit to enter the recovery tool but it should show on the screen when you first turn it on. I have had quite a bit of luck with the Dell recovery fixing non-booting systems without erasing the disk or user data. Try using the online tech support from Dell.

You should get in touch with them as they must provide a disc or recovery parition which was bought when they bought that laptop.

If you have a Windows XP disk then you can normally install by going into BIOS and setting CD as first boot device. If it gives hard drive not found then you will need to install the SATA driver from the Toshiba website first.

My computer crashed I try to run the recovery but I dont have my disk or information. I installed fix-It utilities 9 and it crashed

Fit-it utilities usually doesnt do anything.
I am not sure where you are at now, but if you run the cd-recovery, chances are it will erase everything and bring it up to a factory installation, then, if you have a backup, you will need to do a recovery.
thanks adi
