Yes you can do it. Should be no problem i used to have 4 accessory fans hooked up to a 450 watt power supply to keep my box cool, but i am also into gaming so need to keep things cool.

Rear grill computer case fan

The larger holes are for a 120mm fan. The smaller ones are for a 80mm fan. Personally I would get a 120mm fan.

You can get a good deal on a 120mm fan here:

I have acer aspire desktop x1700, my computer is getting real hot, my fan is working, do i need another fan added to my computer and can i do that .

Your computer will be the coolest when there is nothing like dust preventing airflow through the Processor and Graphics Card Heatsinks.

Ensure that your computer is cleaned of all dust.

It is always a good idea to install as many fans as your computer chassis will allow.

Use the biggest you possibly can, 80mm or 120mm fans.

120mm fans are quieter and provide greater airflow.
Use whichever can be used in your computer.

You can install the fans yourself. Screw them to the computer chassis and then plug them into either your computer power supply, using a molex connector, or plug it into your computer mainboard. The plug will be labeled system fan header.

Remember the fan will always spin one way when on, so you need to position the fan, when screwing it to the computer chassis as either an air intake or exhaust.

All the Best!

Hi,

There are two harware you should check,

First the memory, it might be malfunctioning, if you have an extra memry card, try to swap it just to test the syatem.

Second will be the power supply unit or PSU, that is already overheating and shutting itself down, thus its not powering the your hard disk. try to replace it if you have an extra PSU.

Those are the most probable problem you have, PSU is the main problem in any desktop that was always been overlooked!

Hope that helps you out!

Thanks for using Fixya!

Ati Radeon hd 4850 overheating

Hello b ciprian,
The trick to keeping a CPU or Graphics Card from overheating is to be able to supply the largest amount of cool air coming in. I have gone as far as using a Dremel to router holes in the side of a PC case to add more fans.
Typically I like to have (3)three 80mm or 120mm intake fans in the side panel, (2) 80mm or 120mm fans as exhaust fans. I even remove the front panel to see how many and what size of Intake fans I can put there.
With almost every graphics card that I have used or installed, I have always added a 3rd party VGA cooler. Most of the factory VGA Coolers are mediocre at best. When ever I install a 3rd party VGA cooler, I always use Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound which is 99.9% Silver, which goes between the VGA Cooler Heatsink and the GPU(graphics processing unit).
You can also buy rather inexspensive heatsink kits(applied with thermal tape) that you can attach to the memory chips on the graphics card itself.
I also replace the factory thermal paste that is used for the CPU heatsink/fan with Arctic SIlver 5.
While I am at it, I buy a heatsink for the southbridge, and sometimes the northbridge, as well. Since this is a VERTICAL application, you really should consider using Thermal Tape or Thermal Adhesive. You can use Thermal Adhesive for the Northbridge and Southbridge Heatsinks ONLY. DO NOT use thermal adhesive on your CPU or VGA Cooler.
Here are some nice VGA memory heatsink kits from Newegg.Com http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185083 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835887017
Here is Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007
Here is the link to the CPU heatsinks. Just find the one that is compatible to your motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=heatsinks
Here is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED item. This is the VGA cooler that is compatible with the HD 4850/70/90 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118037
And here is a link for a fairly universal VGA cooler. It costs less but I've had it on my card for one year now and love it. But your card runs A LOT hotter than mine so I would choose the one above. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835110015
Here is a link to case fans. You really shouldn't buy any fan that is over $8. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=case+fans&x=0&y=0
If you order fans for your case, they should come supplied with the 4-pin Molex adapter for the PSU. If not, your local PC repair shop or places such as RadioShack should have them.
I think I covered most of the bases. Hope all goes well for you.

Replacing the fan or fans in a dell 4600 with the quietest fan I

First you need to tell us which fans are the loud ones you are talking about but normally it is the cpu fan. Any computer parts store should have various fans available for different chipsets.
This link will take you to a page to find a fan. You will probably have to get the model number off your current one to find an exact match

Case fan for pavilion 533w

well the fan sizes usually go like this.
80mm
92mm
120mm

If 80mm is too small then its got to be 92mm or 120mm but 120mm are usually reserved for the more expensive pcs and\or servers.

My hypothesis is that its 92mm
www.newegg.com has extremly cheap fans try them first.

Hope this helps
