Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

As a follow on from my first post re the inabilty to drain or open door of my Asko W6021, I followed your advice and cleared out the drain (finding a peg, coins and hair clips). My problem now is that I am not sure about what to do with the short black rubber hose that comes out. Does it get tucked back in to the drain and scrrwed in? or just squashed back in behind the little door? kelly

It is the sump drain hose that is used to drain residual water from the sump when the pump needs to be removed or when the pump filter is to be removed for cleaning. One end attaches to the pump housing while the other is plugged. The plug is removed when water needs to be drained from the sump. Keep the plug in and just "squash' it back behind that little door.

Please refer page 12 and 24 in the washer manual to find out how to open the locked door. You have to press the door open button for 3 secs at end of cycle.

My Asko W6021 won't start and the door won't open when buttons are pressed, although the power appears to be on (the red light comes on after power button has been pressed)..

Open the drain hatch at the bottom left of the machine. Open drain pump and check to make sure tat there are no foreign objects in drain pump. Object in the drain pump will prevent the unit from operating properly. If there is water still in the unit, you can use the drain hose to drain the washing machine. If you would like to open the door manually, disconnect power, remove screws holding red plastic handle in place. pull handle.

Can't open door of ASKO W6883

If nothing else works, the washer door can be opened as follows:

This must only be done in an emergency

if the machine's glass door does not open automatically when the program has finished.

First check that there is no water left in the machine. If there is water left in the machine and it is not possible to run the Drain program, empty the machine by using the drain hose.

Make sure that the main power switch is off and that the plug has been re- moved from the wall socket.

You will find the emergency opener for the glass door in the double sealed bag.

Open the glass door by putting the opener in the slot to the right of the lock on the door. Push the opener up or down and the door will open.

Can you open the door manually

Hi,

Welcome to FixYa.

Yes the door can be opened manually, see below for instructions. Watch for lots of water if it hasn't drained though, obviously.

Usually if the door won't open it's due to the unit not draining sufficiently so I must ask, have you checked the pump to insure the filter isn't clogged, or do you know where it is and how to check it ?

In the event the pump, filter or hose is clogged or obstructed, will prevent the door lock from releasing.

This is by design, but it's easy to confirm or dismiss.

Check as follows...

Let me know if any of this isn't clear and I'll attempt to help you move forward by way of possibly emailing this info to you.

Once you've cleared the pump filter or ruled out it was indeed blocked or not, you can now pull the manual door lock release located in the same area.

Let me know how you make out. Thank you for choosing FixYa and good luck. Please take a moment to rate the info provided for you here today at FixYa.

Macmarkus :)

Door won't open

hello,

please follow this instruction

But generally you will see a plastic lever that is touching both the door open button and the area of the door switches.

That lever is what breaks most often, and if you will push up on the door hooks (latch heads) , the door will open.

Pushing on the door open button repeatedly while looking inside will help you figure it out, too.

thank you.

Water doesn't drain

you could have a bad drain pump.
have you checked the hoses that come from the bottom of the tub to the drain pump for anything that might be stuck in there, also check the hose that comes off the drain pump to the wall and look for an obstruction.

Asko 10505 - wash finished, door won't open

it is most likely your machine may have a draining problem. if it cant drain the water out the door wont open. if you open the small door at the front bottom of the machine you will find the little black drain hose. unplug the hose off the door and drain machine. when the machine is empty try powering on and opening the door. if still no luck you will see (in the same location) a red pull ring. undo the screw holding the ring in position and gently pull until the door releases. it would be worth undoing the button trap lid to access the pump and check for any blockages (most common coins **** pins etc) let me know how you get on.
