Eject imac might be stuck?

How I do it: Depending on your exact model, there should be a very small hole located near the CD tray - usually below the tray. You may have to pull the bezel door/flap open to find it (see image). CAREFULLY take a paper clip end, for example, and push gently (but firmly) into the hole while the computer/CD-ROM drive is off. That should force the tray to open a bit and you can pull gently open with your fingers from there.

How to eject a disk from a slot drive, when you've tried everything else

This is about trying to eject a CD or DVD stuck in a slot drive.
Most computers have a drawer-based cd drive which rarely suffers from disk jams.

Some high end PCs (and nearly all Macs) have slot drives where you feed the disk into a slot, the disk is then pulled into the machine. This gives better structural strength to the case, looks neater etc etc...

The problem is that occasionally a disk will get stuck. and there’s no little release hole on the front to push a paperclip in. There is lots of advice on the internet for the Macs, the Wii, and Pioneer drives of varying types, and most of these advise OS tricks, or firmware commands, however this trick is for when all those methods have been tried, and the disk is still trapped in the machine.

The idea is to stop the disk spinning and fool the drive into thinking the CD is bad, and it will eject it. I was taught this trick by a retired engineer, and it works a treat.

Fold a piece of cardboard (I used the side of a Frosties box) lengthways twice, until it’s quite stiff... Carefully push it into the slot until it bumps up against the edge of the CD/DVD.

Start the machine, and push the cardboard firmly against the disk to prevent it spinning. Wait for the regurgitating noises, and remove the cardboard to allow the disk to be ejected.

Optical drive tray is open, can't close - disk is stuck inside my notebook

Power it down and if you look very carefully, near the eject button is a hole.Insert a straightened paper clip and the drawer will open. Unless it is a Mac.

Eject button stuck

Near the eject button (on the same face as the eject button) there should be a pin hole. Use a straigtened paper clip to force the ejection of a stuck disk. It may also work even without a disk stuck. ( I just tried it on the drive of the laptop.)

Pioneer PD-M551 cd changer won't play cds 2 thru 6.

Thank you, Mark Z! My Pioneer PD-M551 would just stop reading the CD, usually near the end of the 4th or 5th disk, and then sometimes it wouldn't read any disks or maybe only the first one or two. I observed that the white ribbon cable was most contorted near near the end of the 4th through 6th disk (also discovered the disks are read proceeding from the center outward, unlike vinyl records). I unfolded the ribbon, massaged it and left it loose and unfolded and that fixed it (at least, temporarily). The PNP-1343 ribbon cable from Pioneer costs $11 but with shipping and handling it is over $30 so I haven't bought it yet.

Take a Norwegian paper-clip, and straighten one end.
Push that end into the small hole near the slot, until you feel resistance.
Push another 1/8-inch (3 mm) against the resistance, to "unlock" the slot, and then press
the EJECT button to fully expel the disk.

How to eject a cd or dvd stuck on a slot driver?

Turn the computer off.
Straighten one end of a Norwegian paper-clip, and insert that end into the small hole near the slot.
Push it in until you feel resistance.
Then, push another 6mm (1/4 inch).
The drive should "unlock".
Remove the paper-clip.
Turn the computer on, and it may "eject" the disk.
