So i have this DI-524 router. yesterday it was working but it suddenly stopped. but the lights are still working. our laptops cannot detect the router anymore. done resetting the button. none happened...

In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset. Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.

If you need more help post back! Thumbs and testimonial are welcome!

Note that your D-Link is outdated and there is no support at D-Link site.

Laptop is not recognizing our home network all of a sudden. We've had the DI-524 for years....do they go bad? Message on laptop says "there might be a problem with 1 or more network adapters." ...

This could be that the wireless card on the laptop was turned off. If you can tell me what kind of laptop it is I may be able to help you check for this problem.

can u goto my right click on my network places and goto properties. right click on your local area network and goto properties. scroll down to internet protocols and click properties and see if it is checked on the option to optain ip address automatically, if it is on that option, have u check the switch that turns your wireless card on or off. if it is on and u cant connect, there is something wrong with your wifi card, u should get a usb wire less card, the model number is wusb54g

Try to reconfigure your wireless network on your DI-524.

To access the configuration page of your router by Default type in on the address bar 192.168.0.1. On the login page by default the Username is admin and leave the Password blank.

If inside the the configuration page of the router

>Click Home
> Click on WIRELESS located on the left side and you will have the wireless setting of your network
> Change the wireless network name
> Under security choose either WEP or WPA -PSK for this type of router.
> Type in your new network key (also know as Passphrase of Key1).

For WEP use 0 to 9 Number or A to F character and it should be exactly 10 characters.
For WPA-PSK you can use alpha numeric from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. The minimun character would be 8.

> Click on apply
> Click on continue.
Try accessing your wireless network first using your wireless computer. If you are connected to your wireless network try connecting to the Internet.

DI-524 wireless router as wireless switch

You need to disable the DHCP server on your "slave" wireless router ( the di-524 ). In D-link routers this might be called configuring it to be an "Access point".

When this happens, connecting to the second wireless router should cause your computer to obtain an IP address which is in the range of the first router (that is to say, it will use the first router's dhcp server).

You should be able have your laptop connect with an automatic IP address and have it work.

D-Link DI-524 AirPlus G - Laptop Cannot Connect to the Internet

Go to control panel>network connections, right click, then properties, then click the TCP/IP line, properties again and ensure that 'obtain ip address automatically' is ticked, click ok,  then close down the window, right click on the network icon again and then properties, then view wireless connections.

Any that appear in this list including your own if it shows need to be deleted, then when you close the window a pop up should appear in the task bar saying wireless networks detected, click the bubble then highlight your connection, click connect and if security is turned on you will be prompted to enter the passkey.

In the routers settings ensure that DHCP is enabled to allocate ip addresses automatically, then reboot the router if neccasary.
