Question about HP Vs17 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor
Every time I restart my PC and it starts up again, my power light blinks and then it goes out. Then my pc screen goes black also. The only way I can get a picture after hours of trying, is to unplug my power cord from my monitor over and over. Monitor is running fine and the fan is good also. I can hear the speakers making a noise as I keep unpluging and pluging my power cord back into the monitor. My monitor is a HP vs17 and my PC is Compaq. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Unplugging the power cord repeatedly is not a good idea! I hope this helps: 1- After you get a picture, go to "Device manager" (Click on Start-Programs-settings-device manager) and make sure that there is not question or an exclamation mark next to Monitors. If that is the case you might need to reinstall the driver! 2- Make sure that your video card is not faulty by hooking up a different monitor and see if it is working ok. If you still have the same problem, then you need to replace the video card. 3- Check all cables and power cords and make sure that there's good connectivity on all ends (before powering up the machine) and that there are no nicks or cuts. If possible try replacing the monitor's data cable as well. Good luck

I am having the same problem. But I know for sure that the problem has nothing to do witht the computer... it is a monitor issue only. My computer works fine and the monitor is from my grandmas computer. I switched out the power cable and was able to turn it on, but only that one time it worked. It has done the same shut off process as explained previously. It must be a short in maybe the data cable or inside the monitor shell.
