Question about Home

1 Answer

I had a spa installed that I bought at an auction. The spa is a Korral Steam Spa Model KC-8008. The book that came with this unit was poorly written. The jets on the tub part work fine. It is the TR002Y Steam Generator that is the problem. When initially hooked up directions on one set of papers said 220 GFI breaker and hookup required. Initially it did not work because the breaker was bad. The electrician came back out and replaced it. The red light on the panel in the tub came on. The water supply was on going to the tub. The panel was displaying 56 degrees and just shut off. My electrician really knew nothing about this spa so he suggested calling a spa specialist. The guy that came out knew nothing about my spa either. I got frustrated and started reading everything in the packet. I came across one sheet of paper that was labeled North American installation instructions. It stated that the unit was supposed to be wired for 110 not 220. I really can't hold the electrician responsible because the part that said 110 was on a separate piece of paper my husband neglected to give him. I located the information in the packet and talked to a company that sells the generator. They confirmed it is a 110 supply needed. The electrician feels bad because he followed the original instructions my husband gave him. The electrician wants me to find out if there is a fuse before he takes the generator apart. He said if there is a fuse he would be more than happy to replace it. He said he did not smell nothing that smelled burned and feels there may be a fuse that blew in the generator. He just doesn't want to take it apart to replace a fuse if there isn't one in there. He also said he would be more than happy to reinstall another steam generator, but we would have to buy it because my husband did not give him that piece of paper. He has never seen a spa like this before. He has hooked up plenty and never seen this type of spa. Our spa is a European spa and the book he was looking at specified a 220 ground fault breaker. The piece of paper I found that said American installation instructions said 110/30amp ground fault required for steam generator. I guess the TR002Y was placed in this unit here. I bought this at an auction. It was still in the crate. I have to make it work. So any knowledge on this generator would be an absolute plus.

Hello,

please I want to get something clear. Do you want an instruction about a generator or about your Spa.

Could you please summarize your question in a short sentence that would be more understandable.

The question is too ambiguous.

I hope to hear from you soon.

Take care.

Spa just stopped threw circuit breaker replaced fuse still no power

I assume you mean you replaced the Circuit Breaker...?
Spa Breakers are typically "GFI " types... they will trip if they sense power going to ground. Please confirm this.
Is this a self contained unit with a plug in Cord? Please confirm this.
Did you install this unit yourself... including the electric?
If you installed this yourself, then kill power, and disconnect the power from the spa and see if breaker still trips.
without knowing the size and ampacity of the system, I cannot instruct you to safely troubleshoot.
Self contained units with a 20 amp conventional plug... would not know unless we get specific "year-Make-Model"

Why can't I use a gfci breaker my for sauna heater

26 Installing two pole GFI breaker

I'm not clear on why you can't use a GFI Breaker. Has someone said this to you, or have you tried using a GFI and it didn't work? Does the heater run off 120 v or 240 v?

Great lakes hot tub

Normally f2 is not an error code.
It is informing you that you are in a "Filtration" mode. In this case Filter Mode #2
But, if we knew what make & model of the control system you have, will assist us better in helping you. Spa manufacturers normally do not use their own proprietary control systems. They will use a 3rd party vendors unit & install them on their spa.

Failure at 5 months of use indicates unusually poor quality. I know this is not the answer you want, but I believe you should consider replacing the entire unit with a more durable model such as the Pentair 320 (the industry standard for 20+ years), about $70 . Try hard to stay clear of "economy" equipment. It is very expensive.

I just installed my new X400 Dreamaker Spa. I filled it with water (although cold) and it has been warming up for approx. 18 hours and is only at 80 degrees? Is this normal? How long should it take to...

This is normal with the dream maker spa. The dream maker spas are poorly insulated, and only run 120 volts with a very small heater.
When the unit is first filled, the hot tub will not heat full time either. Most new hot tubs will have freeze protection below 50 degrees F. They will recirculate automatically using the friction and the pumps heat to warm the water above 50 degrees, and then the heating unit will kick on. These hot tubs do not heat while the jets are on high either, so once you are in it using the jets on high, the temperature will start to fall.

Now that you are up to 80 degrees, it should heat up fairly quick however.

We just bought a house with an above the ground spa. It appears that the The pump / heater combination unit are missing. How do I fine one to replace it with.

Many spa packs can be adapted to various spas with plumbing changes as long as they will fit into the space provided. If you can find the manfacture and a model # then you should be able to go to their web sight and find the orignal. If it can still be had is another story. The generic route may be your best bet. Good luck.
