SOUND LIKE A LUBRICATION ISSUE DEPENDING ON THE MANUFACTURER NOW A DAYS SYN SILICON IS USED ON MOST PHENOLIC DECKS IF NO MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE I WOULD ALSO CHECK THE FOR UNEVEN SURFACE AND THE BELT MAYBE TO WORN AND THE LUBRICATE WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE , BUT ITS CHEAPER TO TRY LUBE THAN NEW BELT AND DECK. You may have a factory amplifier in the rear of the explorer in the
right cargo panel. You need to supply power to it by connecting the amp
power on (Blue/White I think) in the dash to a power source (such as red
on your stereo harness) so it comes on with the key. If you do have the amplifier, that's why you have no sound.
You should never us the information that you find on line. Every so often about twice a year car manufactures change the wiring a bit. Due to changes in the system , problems with supilier issues ect. What you should have done was purchased a Metra conversion harness from best buy and made the hook up. To prove my point I live in Toronto and my PT cruiser does not even have a red wire for the deck power supply it's yellow and pink... Who would of thought. Good luck.
Hi
With the newer cars most radios have a theft deterrent device built into the radio, and if they steal your system it will not work in another jeep/car the dealer knows the unlock code, some charge to unlock the radio some don't.
That's why when doing electrical work on a car/truck etc. You have to have 12V DC power to the battery terminals all the time or you will loose the code and then only the dealer can help you unlock the radio. HTH.

Answer me this. I just had a new JVC KW-V840BT installed in my 06 dodge dually 3500 w/ infinity factory setup. They have even replaced the stereo once (all in a month) but my JVC refuses to play more then just a couple of minutes. All audio just stops, no matter what source. I am thinking that the JVC and infinity factory system are not shaking hands well at all. This was installed by the store and I have another appointment to just go upgrade to a totally different head unit completely.
If it is shutting off and coming right back on I would defintley take another look at your ground connection. This is the most likley cause for the sudden turn offs. Especially if it comes right back on.
