Question about Dell Computers & Internet

I have a Dell Optiplex GS80. It runs right but very s l o w.

I have a Dell Optiplex GS80. It is an older Dell but not that old; it came with Windows XP on it and it has a fast running MB and is a 1.8 GB Celeron with 1/2 GB pc 2100 memory. The computer was running perfect until I moved it into another room, now it it as slow as a mouse but it still operates correctly. I can't figure it out. I have switched the memory and the HD and OS to no avail. What could be wrong?

What do you mean by slow? You mean online? If so, check your network cable connection.

Had start up problems, thought it was cr2032 batt, but now all i get is orange neon on start button, and high speed whizzing from fan

It sounds like you have the dreaded capacitor problem. The motherboard is shot. From Wikipedia

Capacitor Issues[edit] Older OptiPlex models (mostly produced in 2003 and 2004), notably the GX270, suffered from frequent failures due to faulty capacitors supplied by Nichicon. These capacitors would bulge and leak, resulting in product failure after only a few years of use. As of June 2010, there is still ongoing litigation regarding this problem, alleging that Dell knew that the computers were likely to fail, and continued to ship them.[1]
Sorry for the bad news. Its pretty common with these old Dell OptiPlex computers

How to disable password on Dell Optiplex D170L

Click the "Start" button and then click "Run." Type "Perfmon.msc" (without quotes) and then press "Enter." This opens the Performance window of the System Monitor tool.

Click any of the counters in the right pane that you want to disable.

Click "Delete." This will remove the counter from the System Monitor on your Dell OptiPlex 170L and stop the self-monitoring of that service.

hope this helps

I have problem in Optiplex GX620 while playing need for speed. Whenever i pressed arrowkey up+Right or Left during every turn in race My cars doesn't pick speed. Moreover Breaks are applying rather than...

Try a different keyboard.
It sounds like when you go left or right, it's turning off the up arrow (not braking, but no longer accelerating)
A different keyboard may be all you need.

Well i have a dell optiplex gx260 desktop pc for witch i recently installed windows 7.now i have prolem in finding windows 7 audio drivers

Unfortunately, Dell doesn't support Windows 7 for the OptiPlex GX260. You could try an older driver and see if it will work, but you can't get any Windows 7 drivers for the GX260. (At least not yet.)

You can view a list of Dell computers that are Windows 7-compatible here:

Older Dell created photo and audio Cd's do not

if the CD's were written in a UDF format, then you'll need the same program on the Optiplex, or one that reads UDF format (Roxio Direct CD, Nero InCD etc)
If the cds are not in a UDF format, and are readable on the 2300 but not the GX 270 then there may be a tracking issue with one of the drive's alignments.

I recently bought an old dell optiplex sx 270. I

You are limited in the choices for video card The Optiplex GX270 only has a 160W power supply Not only that but because of the slim case, you're most likely limited to low profile video cards. That means the choices will be extremely limited & not very good. Even after the upgrade, you'll most likely have to stick with older games. follow this link to buy low profile video cards http://www.directron.com/lowprofile.html
