When it comes to buying a new laptop one of the main things you should look for is a good processor.
Intel is a bit more expensive than AMD is but is more reliable. Intel also has an auto shutdown feature in their processors when the chip overheats. This is a key feature when it comes to laptops because the main issue with laptops is overheating. Overheating is the main cause to parts going bad in laptops as well.
AMD is a good amount cheaper than Intel. AMD still makes very good processors but most of them lack the auto shutdown feature that Intel provides. This can be an issue when it comes to overheating.
AMD: Only go with AMD if you believe you can maintain a cool pc. If you have any doubt that you can do so then go with Intel.
Intel: If you can afford to make the investment in a cooler more reliable pc with an Intel chip then go for it. It's the better decision. But if you don't choose Intel then i recommend buying a chill mat with the computer to increase the life expectancy.
Processors do not fail unless they are mishandled or installed incorrectly. This system is very old and uses memory that is no longer available. Try starting your system with no memory, does it start to beep repeatedly? The memory may be at fault. No beep, could be the motherboard has failed. You will not find replacement parts, you will need a new system.
Some lap tops have both fan and heat pipe, but sometimes the heat pipe clogs with dust and fails to provide adequate cooling, and the processor quits and causes shut down. It also could mean that your processor has been injured by the heat build up, but the fact that it still boots could mean that either the fan quit(if it has one), or the heat pipe is clogged or both. You have to take the machine apart to fix and that is a daunting job for a diy., and with no guarantee of fixing.
Hi and thank you for using fixya:
Laptop are very sensitive to heat. They do not contain enough space to put a big fan to cool off the processor. I recommend you buy the cooling docks they sell for about $20.00 with a fan on it. If your laptop has a AMD processor you are really going to need it AMD gets really hot.
This happens because the boot process fails: either because in the boot order the floppy isn't mentioned (put it first) or the bootdisk isn't good. BTW you should update the BIOS only if you have problems, like a new processor not being recognized.
You PC has crashed, you need to run a recovery (which will lead to format the partition and reinstall the O/s, that means all your data will be lost).
Restart the notebook and start tapping F11 key,you will come to Recovery Manager, click on Advance Options, and select System Recovery and click on next, select No without backingup the files (as this option most of the times fails). Click on next and wait for 30-40 mins for the reinstallation to get completed.
u can serch it in internet by writing xp or vista supported msi u100 laptop or note book softwere. i get 15 45 insprine dell lap top softwere for xp becasu i wanted to remove vista. www stock.com help u.
IF THE CONFIGURATION STATED BY YOU IS CORRECT THEN I WOULD SURELY GO FOR DV2000 BEACUSE OF HIGHER MEMORY(3 GB) AND AN INTEL PROCESSOR BECAUSE THE AMD PROCESSOR OF DV 9000 WILL GET SO HEATED AFTER ABOUT AN HOURS USE THAT YOU WONT BE ABLE TO KEEP IT ON YOUR LAP ... HOWEVER I STILL DOUBT THE CONFIGURATION .. CAUSE ACCORDING TO ME THE CONFIG OF DV2000 IS INTEL CORE 2 DUO T5500 1.66GHZ 1GB RAM AND 100GB HDD WHICH IS NOT AT ALL PREFERABLE BY ME
