Need to know how to rebuild the carb on a 3.0 hp

I have a 3.0 hp gas edger that just started running bad and had to run with the choke have on. Then the next time it would not run but just a minute each time I cranked it.--tried coking etc and still would only run for a minute. The it started leaking fuel out the bottom of the carb I think the diaphram is torn
I need to know how to rebuild the carb and make the final jet adjustments

The carb sounds like a vacu-jet, very easy to rebuild. Remove it from the tank but be careful not to damage the siphon tube. Then make sure to check for foreign matter in the tank (big problem with this system), clean and flush it. The idle screw is easy, the other is set by going from idle to full throttle quickly and adjusting it just so it doesn't stumble

Clean your carb for starters. Sounds like you have a fouled carb inside. If this is a trimmer you might need to just buy a carb rebuild kit and start fresh. Good Luck...

If you have not touched the idle screws and you have had this unit for a while, all you need to do is buy a carb kit for your carb model and rebuild the carb. Go to your local repair shop and give them the number off of your carb and they will sell you a kit for that model carb. Go to they have a video you can watch to learn how to accomplish this task or get on you tube you will find all sorts of tutorials there. Good Luck.. gbell the 3rd.

Having problems keeping my 25cc running any ideas as to what i need to do. It will start with full choke but if I go to run it just boggs out and dies

This sounds like a fuel delivery problem....but could be something else. Make sure the in-tank fuel filter is clear. There is a small screen in the carb that also filters fuel, You may need to remove the carb and rebuild it with a kit. It is fairly easy to do and a learning experience for many. Make sure that let the machine warm up good (running on choke) before you move it to run. There are 2 types of carb rebuild is partial and cures a lot of ills and one has almost everything in the carb in it. They sell them at small engine repair shops and on Ebay too.

Trimmer will only run in choke position

You have a few possibilities. Make sure you have good fresh gas in the tank. You're not getting enough gas, so choking helps get more gas than air, making it run better. Could be the carb diaphram (not very expensive if you replace yourself), when they get old they don't perform like they should. Could be the filter in the gas tank is bad, plugged. Also might be just an easy adjustment on the carb Low, and High speed screws. The choke has three positions, full choke, partial choke, and no choke, which means run position.

Difficulty staying running need to apply choke.

Normally when you have to apply the choke on a machine it means that the carb has trash in it, or the diaphragms a getting hard and not functioning as they should.
Time to rebuild the carb on your trimmer if your trimmer is a few years old, otherwise take apart the carb and blow all passages out with compressed air, clean all surfaces and reassemble and install on the machine.

Good Luck,
I hope this helped, Please rate me

Starts full choke dies out runs for a few min at half choke dies out at no choke. noticed tank is full of air bubbles when running

First, you will need to check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks.

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (, to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

(NOTE: If the carburetor parts are more than four years old, and depending on the use, you will need a new carb. kit if the cleaning doesn't work.)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Homelite gas trimmer will not run without half choke and throttle

You need to disassemble the carb. and spray with carb. cleaner. If you need tips on how to do this, just let me know. You may need a new carb. kit as well, but we won't know that until you first perform the first step, or if the carb. parts are more than 3 years old. If they are, then go ahead and buy the carb. kit and replace the parts.

Engine run @ half choke but will not run in run position

It's starving for fuel. What is it? Sounds like the jets are plugged in the carb. or possibly water in the gas. Remove carb., disassemble, clean and put back together. You should get a rebuild kit for it first so you have new gaskets, etc. when you reassemble. It's a little more complex than I can put in words for you here.

Also empty and clean fuel tank too and start with fresh, clean fuel.
