Yes wait for like 12 hours to plug it in, then only run it for a few minutes and leave it set for an hour for about four times....
Yes it could damage the fridge but probably not...

My refrigerator wont work after laying it down to move it. What should I do?

I've done that before and there's no hope for it. Once you laid it down the freon got a air pocket in the compressor and it will no longer work. Guy from sears told me that laying them down ruins them.

Refrigerator wont cool

You laid the refrigerator on its side? If the refrigerator has been moved in this way oil from the compressor flows to the evaporator and blocks the capillary tube. Just leave the refrigerator standing for about tenty four hours. Then try plugging the power on for about ten minutes at a time until the compressor is able to continue running and the capillary tube begins to clear out the oil that was cause by laying down refrigerator. If this is the problem you simply need to plug in power for short times until the compressor starts again without restriction of oil in capillary tube. Do not plug it in and leave your refrigerator while there is back pressure and compressor will not run. That could cause damage to compressor. Have comments or questions please ask, Thanks Sea Breeze

Hi my American Fridge Freezer, after moving it and starting it back up, it seems to be going up to its freezer limits digitally also fridge, but when we open it the fridge freezer, ant cold at all. Any...

You may have laid refrigerator down during the move causing oil to migrate to the evaporator. If this has happened leave refrigerator unplugged for about twelve hours so the oil can slowly seep back down to the compressor. Trying to speed this process up will slow you down and may cause the compressor overload to fail. Once the compressor is ready to start cooling you can leave refrigerator plugged in, Thanks Sea Breeze

How long should i leave my fridge un pluged after moving.

If the fridge was not laid down on it's side while moving (it stood straight up the whole way) then you can start it immediately. If it was horizontal for some length of time the wait about 2hr. Hope that helped you.

Re:Model W210RWO Serial # LA23214707 Repairman told us compressor on this fridge is defunct. Fridge was in our basement and when we moved into this house, the movers had great difficulty getting it...

once you reclaim the freon the only thing left will be the oil if the fridge has been upright all the oil will be in the compressor cut the lines going to the compressor and crimp them off then remove the compressor and some fridges have whats called an accumulator a small tank near the compressor cut the lines and crimp them off before removing it and you will be ok to demo and move.

I have a fridge that i just bought second hand and when i plugged it in the lights came on but not the compressor or any fans. I left i plugged in over night and its still not cold. Is there a kill switch...

If you laid it down when you moved it and didn't wait 24 hours before using it, it's no good now.

Or check the compressor starter/overload relay. It could be burnt on the inside.

Whent it was moved to my new house, it was laid down for awhile, not won't get cold?

Hello. When a fridge is laid on side the fluids in it flow away from necessary areas. Always stand the fridge upright for at least 48 hours before plugging it in. My recommendation is to unplug it and let it sit for 48 hours and then plug it in again. regards, Joe

How long do i wait to connect the fridge after I moved

Rule of thumb...if you laid fridge down, stand it up and leave unplugged for same amount of time fridge was laid down. If old fridge, and will not come on after above method, it is possible compressor motor has fallen out of mounting isolators inside compressor case. If so, compressor may hum and get hot but not cool fridge. This means you may need a tech to diagnose further, but probably cannot fix without replacing compressor. Only a qualified tech can diagnose this for sure.

Fridge quit cooling after i moved it

did you tilt it when you moved it and then when u got it in place plug it in? if so youve got compressor problems, anytime you tilt a fridge you have to let it set for several hours to allow the oil to get back to the compressor or you ruin the compressor
