Question about Hunter 20479 The Stratford II Ceiling Fan

1 Answer

The Stratford II ceiling fan is in my guest bedroom and has only been used about 20 hours. After running for awhile, a clicking sound starts and the faster the fan runs the closer the clicks going from loud on slow, less obvious on medium and then on high one cannot hear it. Called an electrician and he said it sounds like a bearing problem. How could that be on a fan used so little? Any suggestions before I pay an electrician to come out and look at it? Hopefully, Hunter will stand behind their product and replace it.

I know that some fans can be oiled. You may want to look into that for your particular fan.

Sounds like an older unit that has either a dimmer or electronic switch. You need to use dimmable CFL lamps.

Trying to remove the Hunter Stratford II 52" ceiling fan. The canopy ring rotates approximately 1/4 turn but does not release.

Page 8 of the model 20761 Hunter ceiling fan shows how to remove the canopy trim ring. Ours had double stick tape holding the brushed nickel to a plastic trim ring. Dropped it, then squeezed the plastic ring.

After installation the whole fan wobbles. it is standard installation

The most important thing about installing a ceiling fan is to use the proper ceiling box, one that is approved and very firmly fastened to the ceiling joists. If this is not done and the fan is only attached to an existing ceiling box, it may end up being out of balance and wobbling, not to mention being very dangerous.

Fan won't turn on, dont know where switch is

I looked up the owners manual for your fan at the following site: http://www.hunterfan.com/search.aspx?search=20763
Click on the pdf file labeled owner's.This manual indicates there should be a pull chain for turning on and off the fan. Maybe the chain has broken off up inside the fan. You can follow the instructions in this manual to take the fan apart and replace the pull chain.
