Question about Dometic Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a new Dometic RV Air Conditioner Model 57915.751JO (13.5 BTU). It cools just fine but it only runs for 2-3 minutes, then shuts down for a few minutes, then recycles again. It should run until it reaches the temperature setting on the thermostat. It just keeps recycling. There is no visible power setting switch that I'm aware of.

This is a symptom of the system being low on freon. The system will have a low press switch, and as the the suction press drops the switch will brake and stop the compressor, then as the press rises it will start up again. Needs more freon, r134 I believe.

Why does the Dometic 15000 BTU RV AC Unit cycle on and off in short bursts?

I had the same problem with my 2013 Alpine! I took it to a Keystone dealer and of course it wouldn't do it for them, so I contacted Dometic 574-294-2511 and asked for Al McGuire! (GREAT GUY) He is the guru of Dometic! I live 50 miles from the nearest dealer and he sent a new pc board AND a new wall thermostat to an appliance repair shop at no cost! "I" replaced them ( 5 minute job) and it has been working fine. I do keep my fingers crossed because the thermostat is terrible to program.

The best guess is that you have a bad thermostat. When the compressor shuts off it has to stay off for a long enough period of time for the low pressure high pressure to equalize. If it turns the compressor off and back on immediately it can't start against the heavy load created by these unequal pressures. If it will start every time after sitting for 10 minutes the thermostat is making it short cycle.

I have a dometic rv unit 15000 btu what is the amp draw?

For an RV 15000 BTU air conditioner the size being maximum for 115 volts ac you will need to have a independent circuit breaker for it only and rated at 20 amps. The average amps depends on serveral factors like actual supply voltage somtimes 110 to 120 volts and wire size and length feeding the air conditioner. To answer your question the average Amps will be near 13 Amps. Click Here=>

I have an RV with a duo therm rooftop air conditioner... when i turn the air on.. the compressor will run for a few minutes.. it blows cold air and then the compressor shuts down. Low freon??

Quite possibly low on refrigerant. Sounds like a pressure switch is shutting the comp. down after it pumps down for a few minutes. Someone will have to check the refrigerant with guages if you don't have any of your own. There should be ports to connect a set of guages near the compressor under the cover.
