took washer apart fins on adgiator all but one broken off ,also noticed when i took the drum out of the tub the drum has water in it. should there be water in the 2 plastic pieces between the stainless steel part of the drum.

I put washer back tograther, I turned restart option off and started a load it will fill then it will start to rock back and forth a little i guess to get the load balanced then right before the wash cycle starts the machine still blacks out completely with no codes stored and no lights or beeps. There is also a strange smell but not the smell of a electrical or electronic board smell. also the adgiator has 2 broken fins. The machine doesnt seem to sence this and try to correct this could it sence it and just blask out. this wash is about 9 years old now the only problem i ever had was i replaced the pump about 3 years ago and thats only because went into the inpeller and reiuned it.. and the top ring around the drum only because it wore from overloading the washer. just cant figure this one out . could it be a bad motor control board. and do you think this is worth fixing being 8-9 years old.

    thanks

This is a rare and unique problem. Turn off the restart feature to allow fault codes to appear immediately. Enter diagnostic test mode then press the low water level button to turn off the restart feature. The low water level indicator LED indicates whether the restart feature is active or not. With the restart feature turned off, start a cycle.

The restart feature is on if none of the 5 leftmost wash progress LEDs is on when the machine is first turned on. It is off if all of the said LEDs flash.

Note: The unplugging of the washer from the outlet actually resets the restart feature to factory settings and turns it on.

The washer was not able to spin and some amount water is expected to be present in the drum. You should have followed my advice before tearing down the washer because the problem is less likely to be associated with any mechanical part.

That's exactly correct and it's the only way to fix the dryer. The motor is part number 134196600.

Most like the motor controller is overheating that results to the shutting off of the washer. But let's perform first an isolation troubleshooting to exactly determine the cause of the problem.

First, unplug the washer to reset the restart feature to its factory setting then disconnect the drive motor, the pump motor, and the rotor position sensor from the motor controller module. With the three components disconnected, start the washer and keenly observe what will happen. Does it still shut off? Take note of any fault code that may flash and let us know. The motor controller module is indeed bad if it still shuts off.

Start the washer connecting only one of the components disconnected above if it doesn't shut off with the three disconnected. In this way, you can determine which component makes the motor controller shut off then counter check the component by performing necessary testing. If it turns out that the component is good then the motor controller module is finally bad. Replace the motor controller module which costs about $170 to $200. It is now up to you whether it is worth fixing or not.

The rotor position sensor is a 5-wire component mounted on the stator the motor.

the buzzing noise is the pump trying to work, but it cannot due to a blockage. unplug the washer and you can lean the washer backwards and remove the pump to unblock. the fill error is probably unrelated, and is an inlet valve issue.

My fisher & paykel smart drive 051 will wash then drain, but when it gets to the spin cycle it wont spin at all it fills then drains only.

Possible that the program controller is faulty and is not executing the output when the wash cycle and the drain is done. So the program must advance further to the next stage to drive the motor to spin after the water is pumped off and the water level sensor is reset.
Have the conttroller checked to confirm the fault, look for loose joints in the connections.
If not the controller can be a suspect.

It wont complete cycle and empty the water just hums for a while and then turns its self off

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

My washer won't stop filling up with water!

This is a faulty water valve assembly. replace asap if possible. the embedded water pressure sensor is damaged.

Hi Dale..
It sounds like you have a leaky inlet valve assembly. The part number is 421029P and is easy to replace. You can get one here:

Fisher and Paykel Washer Leaking

For those with water on floor after wash, check my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". It could be something clogging drainage area at very bottom of the tub. I couldn't see the sock that was stuck in my FP's drain when I looked from the top between the white outer tub and the wash tub--everything looked fine. Then I removed the black motor/white plastic housing piece--Tip back washer and you should see this black electric motor/white housing on bottom. see my post for how to remove and check for plugged drain. it's really pretty easy.

don't know about outer tub holes, but glad i don't have that problem.

i hate my fisher paykel washer/dryer. i can't wait to sell this house--i will leave them here and get a new front load Duette for my next house!
