Must be a stuck reversing valve or failed reversing valve coil. Most heat pumps are heat always then a coil is energized to reverse the flow. Bad coil stuck valve oopz your unit thinks it is still cold. Give it a slight tap to see if it lets go and acts right. I have no idea what system you have I am basing my answer on what you are asking.

My Honeywell thermostat isnt keeping my house cool even though the temp is set to 69. Currently 90 degrees in here

Its probably not the thermostat. The air conditioner may be stuck on heating mode. If its a reverse cycle, the reversing valve may be jammed so even when the thermostat is calling for cold air, it stays on heat. If the machine is on heating mode, it should be blowing cold air out of the outdoor unit of the air con. If its on cooling mode, the outdoor should be blowing hot air.

Unit blows cool air while in heat mode

model number? Heat pumps tend to blow cooler air than a space heater unless in money-gobbling mode.

Heat Pump - blows heat to set temp, then off, then kicks on to blow cold

Heat pumps defrost which is the AC mode, if the heat strip isnt working during a defrost, the air will be cold, A heat pump only feels warm if the heat strips are on too! the refrigeration cycles heat output is much less sensible to our 98F skin. heat pumps that satisfy a room setpoint are working at least, all heat pumps feel drafty to most.

Blowing out warm air

Turn thermostat switch to 'cool' setting. It's a 'heat pump' and is in the heat mode.

Uotside unit blowing cool air but hot on the inside

It sounds like you have a unit called a heat pump. When a heat pump unit is in cooling mode the outside unit blows hot air and the inside unit blows cold air. If the outside unit is blowing cold then the indoor unit is most likely blowing room temperature or warm air. It sounds like the thermostat could be controlling incorrectly or you could have a failed reversing valve which is the device that switches the unit from heating to cooling mode.

Bryant Legacy Line air conditioning not blowing cool air..

Your outdoor condenser is in heat mode. Check the wires on the thermostat. Sounds like a small wiring problem and nothing else. Good luck. Please keep me posted as to you progress.

Goodman ac / heat pump

I just had a new unit installed and I am surfing for troubleshooting tips too. My unit is doing the same... cools well heat sucks. my problem has been isolated down to the reversing valve... It is constantly energised which means it is constantly in a/c mode even when kicking on the heat strips... We disconnected a line at the thermostat and it is working well as a heater now. You may want to check yours to see if it is actually kicking over into to heat mode... -rob

Not heating

Yes, the reversing valve has a separate coil. some energize on cool mode, some on heat mode. Has the thermostat been replaced? I find this a common mistake.

Honeywell thermostat....Home cooling/heating system....Chromotherm III

On heat pumps, the normal setting is simply an air conditioner working in reverse. The EMT or AUX heat is a supplemental heating system using electric heating elements instead of the hermetic (compressor) system. As far as why the regular heat does not work it can be one of many things. low freon charge. reversing valve not functioning. The defrost cycle not working. Take your pick. you may want to call a service man to repair it as the electric (EMT) is not as efficient.
