Ok, You must establish First IF it is MOUSE or Software first try to startup in SAFE Mode, press F8 At boot time, select, Safe Mode, now see if you have the problem now, IF you do, then maybe your mouse is actually faulty, you need to change the mouse, IF PS/2 then try a USB Mouse, sometimes the PS/2 ports fault. In any event, if when you try it in Safe Mode and all is well, then you may have a driver problem. If everything was working a while ago, and then spontaneously went faulty, then I think, your problem maybe best fixed by doing a System Restore, To do this boot up like in safe Mode as before, now this time choose System Restore, and not safe mode desktop, now when at the next menu, like a calender, simply choose a time PRIOR, to when the problem FIRST started, now follow the instructions, and it will reboot, and soon you should be at your normal desktop with a normal mouse.

To narrow down this problem, lets try this, click start, then control panel, then go to users or user accounts, create a new user account.
Then sign out / logout. Then login with the new account.
Does the mouse work normally on the new account?

Welcome to fixya..
To start with, this could be a virus issue.. To knock that out as a possibility please try a full scan of the free program below.
if it finds anything, have it remove the infected objects it finds ..
If your still having issues, then try a system restore via the
start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore.
Try to choose a restore point that was before you started having this issue..
If neither solution works, reply to me and let me know.
