Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hey Everyone! Ok try this one! I have been working on a KUDS25 Kitchenaid Dishwasher. It was leaking like a siv from the bottom. I replaced both top and bottom plastic bearings and also tightend all the screws at the bottom. Leak Gone, I thought. It now has small leaks down both sides. I have since been told by the owner that he took the door apart himself. I pulled out the dishwasher from the cabinet and ran it. I could see the leaks at the top on both sides of the door latch. I could not find a door adjustment any where. The door feels tight in the middle but loose at both sides. Any Ideas?

Hello davidgalb. You can install a new gasket to seal the door again. That old seal is not flexible any more. That said, for my time and money I recommend a replacement dishwasher, this one has definitely seen better days. Joe

KitchenAid KUDM25SH sprays water from under door at start up

Make sure the area where the door and bottom of the dishwasher meet there is not a buildup of debris. Inspect the dishwasher's gasket and make sure it's intact. It is pretty common to need to replace these. Finally, unscrew the little service door on the bottom of the machine and stand back and watch it for an entire first cycle. It might be squirting out of a slightly cracked pump housing that only leaks when subjected to the stress of startup, the water valve could be leaking when it opens to fill machine, or something else could be leaking. Make sure the wash arms are not damaged, are rotating freely, and don't have anything stuck in the jet holes.

Kitchenaid dishwasher leaking from door

Check the screws on the pump cover under the lower spray arm (the spray arm is easy to remove, the screws are torx - maybe a torx 10 or 15, so a regular screwdriver wont work). They come loose on ours every 6-12 months and spray water at the door, causing it to leak all over our wood floor. I routinely tighten those screws now before they come loose enough to cause the problem.

It sounds like your touchpad is faulty. It can be removed by opening dishwasher door and removing 4 Torx screws along upper edge. Be sure power to unit is off before working on it.

No Power

If it is a Kitchenaid KUDS25 series, there is a thermal fuse located on the upper portion of the electronic control panel. You will need a continuity meter to test it with the power OFF. In addition, check that the door latch switch closes properly and has conductivity across the two spades with the door closed. However, it sounds like you have bigger problems now with the broken ribbon cable...
