- Unplug the dryer or disconnect power

- Remove the two screws that are in the recess of the 'vent trap' on top.

- Pull the top forward and lift the top from the front. If it will not raise with a sharp pull, look at the groove between the top and the front panel, about 2" from both the right and left side are spring clips, you can push on them with a putty knife or thin screwdriver to release then lift the top.

- Look inside and tilt your head down like looking back at your belly, you will see a screw on each side about 3" from the top, remove these 2 screws (5/16"). Unplug the harness or wires to the door switch (mark where they came off). Lift the front and set aside.

- You will see the gas valve on the left side. There should be a couple Phillips head screws holding the coils on

- Reassemble and enjoy the heating of a dryer again

How do I remove the front panel of my Whirlpool WGD5520SQ0 Gas Dryer

That is correct. What you want to do is take the lint trap out of the machine, on the top right side. When you do this you'll notice two screws that are there. Remove these screws, they are attached to the blower housing. With that done, take a flat screwdriver and slide it in betweenn the top and front of the dryer on the left or right front side and gently pry (pop) the top up. With that done, there are two screws on the upper inside on the left and right. Take these out and then you'll be able to lift and pull the front of the machine off.

Hi i have a whirlpool gas dryer LGR8648LWO and

If your ignitor (glow bar) is glowing that indicates the thermal fuse is okay.

With the symptoms you are describing it is acting more like an air flow issue than a component failure. Make sure your door seal is good, your venting is connected properly and try it again. I would not install the thermal fuse.

No heat after a minute of drying

Normal 0 Hi, You need to change the coils on the top of the gas valve. This is a very common problem with the newer gas dryers.
UNPLUG the dryer. This model you need to remove the two screws under the lint screen. Now use a flat blade screw drive and insert it in the gap between the top and the front panel and pry the top up. Now locate and remove the screws on the inside of the front panel in upper corners. The front should lift off. You will see the two black coils on the gas valve. When you remove the three wire coil, make sure the sleeve inside it gets put back on the post thecoils slides onto.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.

No heat after a minute of drying

Your GAS dryer has no element.
You should remove the vent from the rear of the dryer.
Run on hi heat with no laundry.
Your exhaust temperature should be from 130 to 165 degrees.
If not you have a thermostat problem or a ignitor/gas valve problem.

Duet front loader dryer

Check the lint trap and the vent. If the vent is clogged or crushed in anyway then replace it with a new dryer vent.
There reasons why a dryer will not dry clothes:
Clogged Lint Trap
Crushed or clogged vent
Last but not your issue, not getting and heat to the unit due to glow ignitor bad or no gas supply or bad gas valve.
So check what I told you and this should fix the problem right away
