The green wire with yellow stripe goes to ground anywhere on the chassis. And the black cable should be keyed so that you can only hook it up in one place.

My HP D530C does not power on. The power LED flashes 4 times. What is the fault? Pls let me know asap. Thanks.

HP xw6200 Workstation - Diagnostic LED Code: Four Flashes ISSUE: When the workstation is powered on, the front LED might flash red four times, once per second, followed by a two second pause. SOLUTION: The front LED flashing four times is a sign of a power failure. To fix this issue, complete the following steps:
  1. Open the access panel, and check to see if the four-wire power supply cable is properly connected to the system board.
  2. There may be a faulty device. Locate it by removing all devices and then reinstalling them one at a time until the workstation fails. Replace the device causing the failure. Continue adding devices to ensure all are functioning properly.
  3. Verify the power supply functionality, as follows:
    1. Disconnect AC power.
    2. Remove all internal power supply cables from the system board.
    3. Plug in AC power.
      • If the power supply fan spins, and the BIST LED illuminates, then the power supply is good. Replace the system board.
      • If the power supply fan does not spin, or the BIST LED does not illuminate, replace the power supply.

I purchased a ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO motherboard and a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition.... i have everything plugged right and its not getting any bower, it's a 480W... Do i need more?

The Power Supply Unit might either be faulty or under-powered, or their might be another cause.

Eliminate the posibilities one-by-one.

Remove the motherboard and make sure there are no misaligned mounting points or loose screws under the motherboard, shorting the solder points under the motherboard when you switch the power on.

Reinstall the motherboard carefully, making sure the Power Sopply Unit connector is fitted correctly and fully pressed into its socket. If it is a 2 part connector 20 + 4 pins, make sure the 2 part fit together in the correct orientation.

Make sure the Front Panel Control Header Pins are fitted in the correct orientation.

Make sure the CPU and Heatsink are fitted correctly.

Make sure the CPU fan is connected.

Make sure the RAM is properly in the RAM slots.

Make sure the Graphics Card and any other PCI cards are properly in their slots.

Connect only the CPU Power Cable, the Hard Drive power cable and any Graphics card power cable (if you have a separate Graphics Card and it has a power connector) and, leaving the computer open and flat on the floor so you can see all parts inside, test the computer again.

If it works, shut the computer down, add the CD/DVD drive power cable, and then the case fans, testing as you add each extra device.

Upgrade to a 650W PSU if you experience any failure or slow spinning of fans.

Afre installing the new PSU, clear the BIOS by disconnecting the power cable and removing the small, silver CMOS battery for 2 minutes and then reinstalling it and then restarting the computer.

If none of this works, then the Motherbard might either have a BIOS corruption or a power management fault and should be returned to the supplier under warranty for like-for-like or higher specification replacement or a full refund.

Absolutely no power on my Toshiba flatscreen lcd led tv. In a lighting storm we unplugged all of the appliances. This tv still was damaged because it was connected to the cable box via a hdmi cable. Not a...

If the HDMI cable was the only connection, then the high voltage pulse would have had to go through one or more of the video wires in the cable, through the video board, and back out the HDMI cable shielding. What troubles me is you should see the unit come up to standby and refuse to power on. That suggests there was something else connected besides the HDMI cable or the base made a decent ground. At least the panel is worth $150 or so (it is highly unlikely it was damaged).

USB 3 provides extra power though the port that firewire and USB 2 do not, as such it will need to be connected to your power supply. They should include a adapter cable to go from a molex connector to the format on your USB 3 board.

Hope that helped clear things up

Hello, You might have a bad motherboard and need to replace.
First, I know its a pain but disconnect and reconnect all cables verify that your not missing one of your power cables look for any connections on the board that don't have cables hooked up to it. take extra care when hooking up your power button cable. Its easy to accidentally place them in the wrong pin.
Hope This Helps

My acer x223w lcd monitor is flickering. When I change the resolution to 800 x 600 it stops. I have updated the driver and tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

hi, have you checked running the monitor on all the outputs? dvi? vga? flickering is caused most times by bad connections either in the video cable, or on the video board, or power board inside the monitor. i know those monitors pretty well, i'm willing to bet if you opened up the monitor and looked at the power supply board, you would probably find worn/blown capacitors. this could very well account for the flickering. electrolytic capacitors store power for parts of the circuit that require lots of power to run. when they go bad(overheat) they pop up at the top, sometimes leak a little fluid. they are replaceable, need to be soldered in, and you can find them at most electronic stores abundantly, but you should check everything else first, the video cables(dvi, vga) before opening the monitor.

Emachine t2984 - need to diagram to install power & hard drive

There is 2 main cables you have to worry about to feed power to the system. One looks like a big rectangle block with a mess of wires attached. Make sure he is hooked into the system. Then if its an newer unit you will find a plug that has square look to it with just 4 wires attached and should plug in nearby the processor. (only newer units us this) Also if your dealing with the cant turn it on issue make sure to remove all cards off the board like the NIC, Video Card, and Audio Card. I am unsure as to weather or not your system comes with everything onboard or if its stand alone cards. If you still cant power on theres a bigger issue at hand and that maybe that your motherboard has blown.
