There are 2 protection fuses on the +/- 19v supply line. On the G board, check PS6503, PS6504. These are 5 amp IC fuse links, PN: 1-533-597-31. I hope this helps, best wishes.

Are you missing the +19 or the -19 volts?

  • Adam Halfhill
    Adam Halfhill Apr 24, 2010

I ask because you only have a few parts in this supply line. There's the transformer T6703 (not likely), D6515 (the rectifier, uncommon), L6509 & L6511(not likely) and then PS6503 & PS6504. You need to check the fuses with the TV powered up to be sure your getting the Vcc on both sides of each fuse.

I've never had a Sony RPJ TV with bad STKs that did not take out 1 of the fuses. Also, a tip... when you do change the fuse, bleed the residual off with a resistor first. I've popped them by slipping with the iron... It will ruin your mood.

It could be, but not likely. You said you are missing 19 volt on the STKs. The AD board wouldn't do that. On D board, near the STKs, there are 4 inductors.. L8004, L8005, L8007, L800. This is the last stop prior to the STKs for the +/- 19 volt.

Sorry last inductor was L8008, not L800.

Sony kp-53xbr45 is bowed and looks 3d convergance moves all directions but wont fix bow

You have a failure in your tv. This is a common failure with many big screen tv's. The convergence driver ic's have failed, they are located on the "D" board in your set. if you want to repair this yourself you need to be aware of the dangers of working inside a televison, even with the tv unplugged from the wall it will still cary voltages that are very dangerous.

There are two approches to the repair that the Technican may use, One approch is to replace the whole "D" board this is the more costly approch, the other approch to the repair is to replace the STK392 ic's and any blowen pic fuses. This repair from a service tech will cost around $300.00 to fix. If you want explisit instructions on how to repair this problem post back and i can get them for you.

Changed the ic's on my sony kp-65ws rear projection tv. (original parts) it fixed some of the bowing problems, and some the green and blue color problems. the red is still off and cant move the convergence...

did you check the two pico fuses on the G board. Usually the picos next to the ICs on the D board will be good, but the ones on the G board will blow when the original ICs failed.

I have a convergence problem.

did you check the power to the IC's ... normally when either one of the IC's burn out it takes out the power supply ..... make sure there is both a positive and a negative supply present there ... possibly + and - 28 volts or so .... if any of the voltages are missing ,check the 5 amp fuses that look like little green resistors on the power supply board ... that should solve your problem ....

Picture bowed and colors don't line up on my Sony KP-51WS500 Sony KP-51WS500 its bowed and words show up different colors like in 3s.

This is a convergence problem that can be as simple as poor solder connections on the convergence ICs or defecive ICs. If you can solder you can repair this yourself, Let me know if you wish to attempt the repair and I'll provide additional details and instructions.

KP-51HW40 Convergence Problem

actually your model should only need two STK392-560 Convergence ICs and six 3.5 amp pico fuses. You can get the replacement ICs and pico fuses at the following link with free installation instructions. Heres the link.

KP-61HS30 Sony TV turn pink and green text is bowed

Hi,

Check out CONVERGENCE GALLERY . If you see your symptoms you have a problem in your convergence amplifier circuits. Typical Sony Convergence repair requires disassembly for replacement of 2 ICs, sometimes a fuse or 2, then TV is like new.

It is much more complicated than changing batteries on your remote. Many consumers try unsuccessfully to do a convergence repair. I recommend finding someone competent to do it for a reasonable price. Typical repair shop charges may be from $400 to $650.

If you are in the Calgary area, call me. More reasonable rates.
