Question about Linksys WPC54G Wireless-G Notebook Adapter V2.0 (WPC54C)

1 Answer

The Linksys software doesn't seem to connect with the adapter. Windows recognizes the wireless connection. Link information shows "No association with access point." Site survey doesn't show any sites nearby, even though the laptop and the antenna are within ten feet of each other.

The computer keeps telling me that it can not associate with the access point. What's the problem?

Hey Rico

You might have the wrong password for your wireless connection, if you sure that you have the right password.

Best fix for this is to by pass the linksys software and just use the windows wireless connection manager.

Try this

On the bottom right of your desktop screen, where you see the time. Right click on the green icon that says "Linksys WLAN manager" and click " use windows XP configuration manager", click yes if prompt. After that, windows is now managing your wireless connection.

To connect wirelessly, go to start > control panel > network connections
  • right click wireless network connection
  • go to properties
  • go to the wireless networks tab
  • check the box that says use windows to manage your wireless networks
  • click ok
  • right the wireless network connection icon again
  • click on view available wireless networks
  • connect to your network
make sure that you have the correct password with the right cases.

Hope this helps

What is the operating system on your computer ?
If it is windows XP then you can use windows software to connect to the wireless network. Windows XP has it's own software to connect to the network. For this you will need to start the WZC service on your computer.
When you open the Linksys icon, does it say , adapter is inactive ? If it says that then unplug the adapter and plug it back in. try again and see if that works.

I had the same problem, but due to legal issues there won't be any linksys drivers available for linux any time soon. What i did was to sell mine and buy a different one with full compatibility with both windows and linux.

System can not setup wireless connection to the router

If you are running Windows XP sometimes your linksys software and Windows software conflict and makes connecting to wireless network difficult. Check to see if the linksys software is telling you there is another software used to connect to wireless networks, if so then one needs to be stopped. Also if your drivers are loaded correctly you can see a icon in the taskbar looks like a PC with a red x. Right click it and click view available wireless networks and see if it pick yours up. If all else fails uninstall all drivers and redo from scratch. Sometimes that is the quickest fix.

Hope that helps,

No internet access with new Linksys wireless PCI Adapter

Don .bin is a firmware that can upload to the linksys router or any router.

So it seems that your unable to connect wirelessly using the linksys adapter? The Internet connection before is working properly?

*I might advise you to reinstall the driver of your wireless adapter using the latest driver that you can download in there support site.

- Check the Internet connection hardwired to the router if connection works it seems that problem is on the adapter.

The Computer doesn't recognize the Router (And Yes. the wireless switch is turned on)

DON'T use the software.

Are you trying to connect by way of ethernet cable or wireless?

Either way you do it, you do NOT need that crap software. 90% of the time, that software interferes with everything. Up to AND INCLUDING preventing your system from connecting to the router.

Before you can get any help with this, you will need to give us more information about your setup.

NOTE: We CAN NOT POSSIBLY figure out all of the variables if you do not give them to us. So don't go marking my post as "Thanks for trying" just because your problem is not solved in the first post.

Instead, if you want answers, you're going to have to be more specific.

I see a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. Is there a version number on there?

Example: WRT54G v3 (Mine.)

You're also going to have to tell us more about your computer. Is it Windows XP? Service Pack 1/2? Windows Vista? Linux even? (Give model numbers if it's a pre-built system from an OEM manufacturer such as HP, Dell, etc.)

Then there's the internet connection. Cable internet? DSL? Satellite? Give us MODEL NUMBERS of the equipment they have issued to you for your internet connection.

Then tell us how you have things connected. Wireless? Ethernet cable? What is connected to what?

See what I mean?

FULL details bring quicker resolution of your problem. I will be monitoring this post as you seem capable of providing this information to us. When I see more complete information, I will help you further from there.

Thanks. :)
