My paper won't load. The printer acts like it's grabbing it and thinks it has, so it's 'printing' but paper isn't moving forward at all. Pixma ip1800.

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Lexmark X4530 won't load paper to copy

Leading cause of paper jams is debris / foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please try this approach to fix the problem:

  1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.
  2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.
  3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also carefully turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.
  4. If feeder is clear, place the printer on the table. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.
  5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions in the paper path.
  6. Close the printer cover.
  7. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - the black box where the power cord is plugged into. Re-plug after 30 seconds.
  8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Error message to "Load Paper"

Push something thicker than a plain sheet of paper through. Cut a side of a manilla folder into a 8.5"x11" and let the printer try to grab it during a copy. After doing it's normal "grab the right side until it's skewed and stop", continue to try to push it through.

It will not grab the paper properly to print. After trying I receive the message saying there is no paper.

OK, if the printer does not grab, the rollers are probably wearing out.

There seem to be a number of posts of Canon printers of various models acting in this way. I think that when the rollers get old, they do not grab, and there is no economical fix for this problem.

So, I usually recommend that the printer be replaced with a newer one with good rollers, possibly brand new.

There are quite a few new WiFi printers on the market that would have no paper feed issues.

Good luck on finding a printer solution.

check the printer's printing preferences on properties option.should be set to normal then check the printer rollers if its dirty where the papers pass thru, if the problem persists load only 1 paper every time you print for the printer not to grab more papers.i think it is in the feeder and the sensor maybe its dirty need to be cleaned up.

I am having difficulty loading paper into the printer. When printing, the printer grabs the paper and tries to load crooked and then fails to load.

This could be for a number of reasons. Are you making sure that the guides are reasonably tight so that the paper cannot slew? Is the paper damp, or old (same thing)? Some papers, particularly cheaper types, have a coating on them which is powdery, which prevents the take-up wheels grabbing properly. Been there, done that.

Printer has problem grabbing certain papers

i have an r1800 as well and i solved this very easily.
usually most epson papers come with a sheet feed cleaning page- a thick piece of paper, same size as the rest, with an adhesive strip in one area. ya peel off the protective coating and put this sheet in and it rubs against the wheel and grabs off lint and stuff. I have done this and it sorta works, but mostly, i think its rather inadequate. plus, not all papers come with this sheet.

so what i did was, when the printer tries to grab a page and doesnt load one and its in the error mode, remove all the paper, and get a cloth wet with isopropyl alcohol. reach in there and set it lightly against the wheel and press the paper button. the printer will try to load another sheet and it will make all of it's usual noise, and the wheel will spin, be sure it's getting wiped with the alcohol. do this three times. then let it dry. reload the paper, and voila!
