Question about Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Usb ports on my HP laptop running windows xp stopped recognizing any thing plugged into them. Flash drives light up so I know they are getting power but no tone when they are plugged in, no removable media icon in the task bar, and no drive showing in windows explorer. I've tried several flash drives and and iphone and none are recognized or even acknowledged as being plugged in.
There was no event (that I know of) such as a update or anything else that happened prior to them not being recognized. I've tried uninstalling usb from device manager and device driver software to search for missing or corrupt drivers to no avail. I have even tried the Microsoft FixIt beta software and followed all the suggestions it had but nothing has worked.
