And make a scan for your drivers. It will list all the components of your system.

Explore the disc, and on AOESETUP.exe, set the compatibility to Windows 95. It should install fully. Now, if only I could get my computer to stop with the BSOD when I exit the game..

Age of empires 3 not loading

Age of Empires 3 requires a decent computer to run. If im correct in understanding what you are saying, you graphics card may not be up to date. This is what happend to me on several games. All i had to do was update my video card drivers and it worked.

The recommended requirements are:

- Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP
- 512 MB of RAM
- 2.0 Ghz CPU
- 128 MB 3D video card

- 1.5 GB of extra free hard disk space
- 32x CD-ROM drive
- DirectX 9.0c (important)
- DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
- 56 kbps Internet connection for online play

If you PC has all of the above or better, it should work perfectly.

If you do not have those requirments, download a 3D render that acts as a card for your computer, making your computer play games it orignally cant handly. I recommend "Swiftshader". Just type in google and go to there site, and download a demo. their are harldy any restictions on it apart from a splash logo in the side. when you extract, place the
"d3d8", and the "d3d9" files in the root (main folder) of the game. Then run!

This method is good if you have a good amount of ram (more then the game requirements)

HOPE IT HELPED!!!!!

Age of empires 3 problem

The error message you got would show up in the following scenarios:
1. DirectX not up-to-date.
2. Video card drivers old.
3. The game being played with a not supported video card.

Check for the above mentioned and it should be either one of them.

Spec's look decent but many things can cause this problem, a lot of them fall under 'settings' and 'drivers'. Making sure ALL BIOS settings are set correctly is foremost. Clear the ESCD in BIOS after any hardware change. Make sure frequency and timing settings don't cause excessive wait-states for BUS x-fers. After BIOS is checked, ensure MoBo 'chipset' drivers are installed - full AGP functionality may not be possible without them even though Windows installs 'generic' drivers. All hardware mfg. drivers should be installed and settings checked. Make sure not infected with badware. Disconnect any hardware not needed for gaming, or disable drivers like multimedia enhanced keyboards and any system processes or background tasks that are not essential so there are less things causing IRQ requests.

Make sure DMA is enabled for HDD and CDROM's if supported by them. Error-scan, defrag and check S.M.A.R.T. status of HDD's. Use a sys info tool like 'Everest' or 'PC Wizard' to check if settings in BIOS and OS are allowing full hardware functionality.

Some hardware (and software) just don't play well with certain others lol, so if all that fails, borrow another video card with similar features and see if it works better before spending money on a new one. Check if your MoBo chipset has known issues with any of the different graphics chip mfg's.

Good luck and hope it turns out to be something simple ;)
