The wiring on a line out converter

I just bought a used car and it came with a line out converter for the stock stereo. It has 5 wires on it. Now I know that 4 of them are for the audio input but what is the fifth black wire for?

My amp has power but then immediately goes red into protect mode.


Ok, being an old-school "back yard" installer when i began, gave me 2 immediate possible diagnosis for your problem. I was running a Kicker zx550.3 amp to 2 Polk DB 12'inch Subs rated 600w max 1500w. I also used a LOC converter (Line Output Converter) in order to use my stock Bose stereo since it did not have RCA outputs. Now shortly after running this setup (approx 2 weeks) I noticed a substantial drop in sound output and also noticed some ground noise/distortion coming thru the subs. After tracing my wires that connected my LOC to the Amp, and Rear Speaker Wires of my Radio to the LOC, I noticed that by jostling the wires there was a connection issue. If you are using your factory radio to power your regular component speakers (tweeters, coax, mids) then chances are your stereo feeds into a FACTORY INSTALLED amplifier. If thats the case, then you need to access a Wiring Diagram for the Harness coming off the Factory Amplifier! Once this is viewable, check the wiring and locate the "Amplifier to Radio Signal Wires" and also the "Amplifier to Speakers Signal Wires" ... Now go back to your LOC and look at the wires you tapped to get the Line Signals to the converter, and make sure that you havent tapped your lines off of the AMPLIFIER TO SPEAKER wires. These wires carry a small electrical current because they are coming powered from the Amplifier, and most Line Output Converters are PASSIVE, which could short the signal the LOC creates thus reducing your signal gain, but does have the capability to surge back to the Factory Amplifier, which could possibly melt the shielding of the factory wiring, and thus allow your signal to cross or ground out! If you can, try running another RCA input to your Sub-Amplifier from another source other than your car, and see if your protection lights go out and the amp returns to normal operation. If so then your LOC or Factory amp is to blame. If not, then the second diagnosis is much simpler, which is your Alternator current has been reduced due to many different possibilities, and you should acquire a .5 or 1 Farad Stiffening Capacitor which will reduce the excess draw from your charging system. But due to the first solution being my problem exactly, im willing to bet your's lies along the same variables... GL to you!

How do i put a cd player in my car


Hello, first you'll have to pick out an after market car stereo. Then get the correct wire harness converter which converts your stock plug with the new plug into your new stereo. You can find a cheap converter at Walmart that gets the job done. Let me know if you have any more questions. Best regards.

I am trying to install a new stereo in a 94 rodeo but my wire harness is cut off

No radio will work in my car: Light just come on that it not even on the screen.


if you've used the loome plugged into the car check that the wires line up and the car has enough wires most new head units have 6 wires while most older cars only have 5 therefore you need to bypass the stereos ignition wire by joining it to the live wire and reconnecting all other wires as they would on the loome

Ok, I am assuming this is the 600 watt amplifier?

DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERY!!

Supplies needed:
- 8 Gauge power wire (long enough to run from your battery to the amp placement) WITH an inline fuse!!
- Depending on your stereo (if it has amp pre-outs or not) you will either need RCA cables (long enough to reach your amp from your stereo) OR a Line-Out converter AND RCA cables.
- The power lead that connects to your "REMOTE" line on your stereo (long enough to reach from amp to stereo - usually blue)
- A good ground wire ( long enough to reach a metal part of your car from the amp)

======================================================================
STEP 1: Find a spot to run the power wire from your battery - through your firewall and into your car - and then to your amp. (DO NOT CONNECT IT TO ANYTHING YET)
STEP 2: Remove your car stereo and look to see if you have PRE-AMP outs (RCA connectors for an amp on the rear of the unit)
A- if you do, GREAT.. proceed to step 3
B- if you don't.. you will need to get a LINE-OUT CONVERTER - what this does is converts the higher signals from your standard wires on your radio, to RCA style wires to connect to your amp.
B2- you will also want to buy a wiring harness kit for your stereo, unless you want to hack away at your factory wires.. (not recommended) - connect the harness kit to your factory wire harness, wire in your leads for the output converter, and run the other end to your stereo.*
*you will need to know which wires run to the speakers you plan to power with the amplifier
B3 - once the converter is properly connected - proceed to step 3
STEP 3: Plug the RCA cables into the stereo or converter, and run them properly from behind your radio to the amp but DO NOT CONNECT THEM YET.
STEP 4: Connect the REMOTE wire from your stereo to the same wire for your amp . (this enables the amp to turn on/off with your radio.. otherwise.. you will have alot of dead batteries)
STEP 5: re-install your stereo into the car.
STEP 6: Connect the RCA speakers into the INPUTS on your amp
STEP 7: Connect the REMOTE wire to your amp.
STEP 8: Connect the speaker wire from the OUTPUTS on your amp to the speakers you wish to power
STEP 9: Connect the POWER CABLE to the amp PROPERLY
STEP 10: Connect the GROUND CABLE to a metal part of your car (sheet metal, not just a bolt)
STEP 11: Connect the POWER CABLE to the battery cable
STEP 12: Re-connect your Battery
STEP 13: Start your car, and test your radio.

If you have any issues from here.. you need to re-check all of your connections.

Radio on but no sound


i have a 1994 eagle vision, with the premium sound system (infinity) and yes you do have a amp in your car if you have that sound system and its in the trunk of your car to the left while looking at your trunk from the back of the car :) also if you tryed putting in diffrent speakers other then stock thats your problem you have to rewire new speakers cant use old wiring because it goes threw the stock amp and for some reason the stock amp only works with the stock speakers :P
