The Edge, -Clean the electrical contacts on the printer where the cartridge connects with alcohol. After it dries clean the same contacts with a regular pink, non-abrasive pencil eraser making sure you remove all the debris when done. -Its also possible there is an air bubble preventing the flow of ink. You can try inserting a full cartridge of ink in the printer and letting it sit overnight then running a nozzle clean job or two. Another alternative if you have a syringe you may want to try gently forcing ink into it. If you?re really desperate you can try drilling a small hole into the cartridge to give gravity feeding a hand. BE WARNED the air hole will let ink flow pretty well and you run the chance of making a mess. Before you pull the cartridge out of the printer make sure you cover the hole with tape so the ink doesn?t make even more mess. -Check the cartridge alignment making sure the contacts are mating to the printer. -If it still doesn?t work I would try cleaning your nozzles. Even though I doubt you have clogged nozzles its worth a try because of the following: If you search the Internet you?ll find that this specific model is know for failing to print some or all colors after about 1 ½ to 2 years of use, even with Epson inks. Most of the posts I?ve seen blame it on clogged nozzles but I suspect a good number of them, like yours, have another explanation for their failure. Ink jet printers use resistors to create heat to create a bubble in the ink to eject it out of the nozzle (Bubble jet) or in the case of Epson, vibrating crystals push ink into and out of the nozzles (piezoelectric). We?ve already cleaned the electrical contacts and cleaned the nozzles so what remain are defective nozzles, short between the nozzle and the controller board or a defective controller board. Since the printer is only worth 1 or 2 hundred dollars repairs at a shop or buying these repair parts can easily exceed ½ its cost. Hope something here works for you, I just recently had to toss a great printer too. Let us know what happens and please don?t forget to rate the posting.

Read some of the other problems and answers and found out how to move the cassettes around manually.
Press a little spring loaded button beneath an oval hole to the left of the cassette removal hole with something like a key or flat screwdriver. This enables the cassettes to be moved around manually anti-clockwise until the one that needs changing is in position. Then just carefully pull it out. Push in the new cassette after rolling and rocking to ensure the toner is distributed as advised in all instructions.
This method is actually much easier that trying to do it from the software in your your PC or Mac. Don't know if it means that some things are not reset - but it worked perfectly for me. In fact once I knew how, it was the easiest cassette change I have ever done........!

SOURCE: Printing in just black and white
My Epsom DX8400 Produces a printed Black and white photo with a Green or Blue colour in it. Can the modern Printers print the old Black and White photo's?

There are mainly three possibilities causing this issue.
1. Ram i.e. Memory
2. Connection between the Printer and the Computer.
First of all, try to print the pictures using a Pdf Printer, i.e. PDF Creator or similar applications. This will help us find out if there's Ram (memory) issue. Download and install this (Click Here), open the link and click "Download Now!" button. This application is called "PDF Creator". It's not actually a program, but a Virtual Printer which prints documents as Pdf files. [If you have other similar application, you need not to download this.] Once it's installed, it should show up as printer "PDFCreator" in the "Printers and Faxes" folder. Run the windows "Photo Printing Wizard", select all the pictures of the album and select the PDFCreator as printer, you'll be prompted to save the file somewhere, save it on the desktop, it should run the process several or few minutes depending on the number of photos/documents. Do this several times and make sure there's no error or problem, if there's problem, then I would recommend you to install additional or another Ram and try again.
But if there's no problem printing this way, then Uninstall and Reinstall the printer's drivers and softwares. You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. After this is done, try printing the photos again, but first as Pdf file as mentioned above not directly to the printer, otherwise you'll loose Ink and Papers.
I would also recommend you to try with another Cable, i.e. printer's USB cable.
Let me know if you need further help.
Thanks for using FixYa.
