LG TV Goes Into Hibernation (I Think)

This could be two things 1- a power saving mode in the TV... go into settings on the TV, look for either "power save settings" or "energy star settings" go in and turn that off. 2- it could be a screen saving mode because the TV has lost signal...some HDDVR receivers such as Direct TV DVR etc...have their own power saving mode, after a couple our of inactivity, they turn off, which kills the signal to the TV...so the TV shuts down because it has no signal coming to it.... if that is the case, you need to go into the settings on your cable/satellite settings and also look for a "power save mode" or "energy star saving", and turn that off.

When i convet dvds my laptop shuts of after 30mins

I bet it is your power settings, I am guessing that you have a Windows 7 Laptop. If it is a different Windows flavor (XP) these instructions will work too just a couple of differences, not sure on Win 8 though. If it is on a Mac Book I am not sure where to go for these settings. Sorry I am a Windows guy.

  1. click on Start Button (bottom left, the Windows symbol)
  2. click on Control Panel
  3. This is where it gets fun, If your view in the top right is set to "Category" then click on "System and Security" then click on "Power Options". If your view in the top right is set to either "Small" or "Large" Icons then just click on the "Power Options"
  4. In Power Options you will see the Plan that your Laptop is set to (the one with the circle filled in). Once located click on Change Plan Settings.
  5. Another Screen will pop up with Options. The first set of options are for Battery, or when no power supply is plugged in, and the other is while plugged in. You can change how long the system will wait to Dim, Turn off Display, and put the computer to Sleep. I bet that your settings for putting the computer to sleep is set to 30 minutes. You make it longer by clicking on the drop down box and choosing a different time.
The reason for these settings are to turn off the device when you are not using it. This conserves energy and also helps take stress of the Hard Drive. I personally have my laptop set to go to sleep after 45 minutes if on battery and 4 hours if plugged in. This is because I use my laptop all day for work and I am never off of it. You may want to extend the sleep while plugged in to 3-4 hours that way you can give your PC plenty of time to burn your DVD's.

If this did not help please respond back, could be something else.

Bad setting. If you press and hold the power button, the computer will shut off. That will keep you from having to unplug it.

Dell e5420 close lid power problem

What is the problem? Open Control Panel, Power settings, Advanced power settings, set to High Preformance, Set Sleep and Hibernate to Never , Set Lid close to Shut Down, adjust setting to your preference, Always shut down your Laptop, unplug when not in use. Remove battery if you use on AC most of the time, your laptop will last longer and a boot everyday resets the computer.

My pc is shutting down what should i do to prevent it?

You haven't mentioned if it turns off abruptly or shuts down telling you that the PC is shutting down.

- When your PC turns off abruptly, its mostly the CPU which heats up. The reason may vary from the CPU fan stopped working to CPU gone bad.

- If its a proper shutdown, most probably there is a virus on the PC.

KIndly feel free to ask me if you need further clarification

Have scheculed backup each monday at 5AM, but it does not happen - why???????????????????

There could be any number of reasons.

If th computer to be backed up is off, sleeping, hibernating then your backup application needs to be able to deal with that.

If you are doing it over a lan you should check that WOL is enabled (Wake On Lan)

If its a laptop then these have TWO sets of power settings on is for battery use and may well shut down, put to sleep, or hibernate your computer. Backing up on battery power is never recommended.

Even if its a laptop and on a power outlet then the power setting for the computer may still be set to do the things mentioned.

And even if it is a regular desktop type computer these too have setting for power and may even have a setting to shut down the hard drive if it has been idle too long..

To check these features go to Control panel, then select Power Options.

You will see any boxes that need to be changed if you read the function.

Also some hardware has power saving features all of their own and these can be found by going to the control panel, system, hardware, device manager, and then going through the individual properties for each piece of hardware.

In your case and esp if your back is to lan or a usb drive then check those hardware items first for any energy saving features that need to be turned off.
