Hey!

I'm afraid that the problem you describe can be caused by numerous reasons, but there are few that are very common:

  1. Overheating of the CPU. The heatsink is dusty or the fan is not working properly, thus the CPU gets VERY hot and the computer shut itself down to prevent damage. Open the computer case and have the CPU heatsink/fan a decent cleaning.
  2. A faulty power supply. Replace it with a new one (Note: even when it's faulty, the computer might seem to work... until it shuts itself down!).
  3. Bad memory module(s) - If the computer RESTARTS itself (rather than SHUTS DOWN) - the memory module(s) might be faulty. Download and run MemTest86+ to check this out.
  4. A motherboards problem. Usually nothing to do it this case, rather than replacing it... Sometimes you can spot physical evidence of the damage: Look for blown capacitors, especially around the CPU area (usually caused by the reasons explained in #1 and #2).
  5. A faulty hard drive. Bad sectors on the HDD might cause the computer to RESTART itself. Run ChkDsk to have your HDD checked. If bad sectors have found, you can use HDD Regenerator to try fixing them.
Have a look at my tip for more ideas... Most of them apply to your case as well!

GOOD LUCK,
Pelu.

Monitor works ok then suddenly loose picture(black screen) turn monitor off then turn it back on works for approx 5 secs then goes back to black screen

there are many reason why a monitor suddenly turned off then back to work again , over use may over heat that cause the soled parts on the printed board of your CRT go loosen , try to re sold it, sometimes your PC might stop viewing so the monitor automatically shot off stby mode , loose connection due to basted parts , capacitors, power regulators, resistors , even the cables also might be.

Why does my asus monitor always read "no signal".

nah that happens with me sometimes..
have you connect the cable properly?
if that still can't make it works, first turn on your PC and monitor..
then plug off the cable that power them, so that your computer and monitor will suddenly off..
plug it on again, then your monitor will work again..
that works on mine cause my CPU is too old and had a power problem..

My HP W1907 monitor works fine until I try to play The Sims 3 game. I play for several minutes or hours and the monitor shows the message that it is going to sleep and the light on the monitor goes...

Hi there. I had the same problem months ago when I try to play high end games like Sims 3 my monitor goes into power saving mode. I tried to check every possible causes of the problem. It could be that your computer is overheating try to clean your computer and check if your fans still works. Second it could me your power supply malfunctioning, maybe it does not meet the required power to make your game work. Last cause is your video card malfunctioning, what I did is to just buy a new video card and it works.
If you do not have spare power supply or video card you can go to a computer repair shop for them to check the possible problem that causes it to go into power saving mode. It can also save you money before you can buy a new one.
Hope this helps, Have a good day!

Temperature gauge goes up all of the sudden

It sounds like you have air in the Cooling system and the bars leak permanent seal does not help. The sealer creates restrictions through out the water jackets and can cause the thermostat to stick. Replace the radiator cap and run the truck with the radiator cap on the first click and keep an eye on the over flow tank, refill the over flow as needed and make sure you have the heater on the highest setting to work out all the air in the system. Once all the air has worked it's way out of the system, then you can close the radiator cap to the second click to ensure full pressure is built up in your cooling system. Good luck and keep me posted.

Monitor suddenly goes black

Is this monitor and LCD flat Panel? If so this is due to a bad power supply, an inverter board going bad or LCD backlight bulb blown. When the backlight goes bad it gets just enough power to start up, but when it is on for a long period of time it goes black because the bulb is not stable enough to hold the charge because it is going bad. These bulbs can be changed, but they also can be costly!
