The error code indicates that the PS3 is unable to contact the Playstation Network Servers. This may be caused by the PSN (Playstation Network) being under excessive load (often a result of new, significant DLC being released) or a problem with your router or ISP (Internet Service Provider).
On your Playstation 3, go to the Settings menu, scroll down to the bottom and select Network Settings, then select Internet Connection Test. If you do not see success for Obtaining IP Address and Internet Connection, then there is a problem with the networking between your PS3 and the internet.
If you both of these connections prove successful, but you are still not able to sign in to the PSN, try:
Contact your ISP and see if they have some sort of outage in your area or are somehow hindering your connection to the Playstation Network.
Well, if you are still having problems with the Playstation Network it is because Playstation Network is currently down. Someone hacked the Network and stole the credit card information from many users. It will be back up and running with much better encryptions and coding as soon as possible.
Hope this helps. If not, please message back and I can walk you through another option.
To resolve this issue, disable the Proxy Server on the PS3.
To disable the PS3 Proxy Server:
Open the PS3 main menu and select Settings >Network Settings.
Choose Internet Connection Settings (advance settings) from the list of Network Settings, select Custom, then choose Proxy Server from the list.
On the Proxy Server screen, select Do Not Use to disable it.
Note: Menu options and screen appearance may differ
by firmware. For support for your Sony PlayStation 3, please visit the

Hello woiworrung
This error is a timeout when trying to connect to the network server. This is due to either a slow connection or high traffic from your internet service provider (ISP).
Keep trying and different intervals during the day. If you´re still having problems, contact your ISP and ask them to check your internet speed.
If they report no problems, then it probably has something to do with your own network. I can try to help you further, but I will first need to know what type of connection you are using, e.g. wired/wireless.
Hope this helps. Good luck!

I had this problem myself I bought a new server and it's fine now. I'll suggest contact your server provider if your server providers BT then I suggest buying a new server.
Check to see if your router has backwards compatibility to wireless G because the N router uses 256bit encryption coding while the G uses 128 bit encoding. PS3,and PSP use the 128 encryption coding also. If the router does not support 128 bit encoding you will never connect with it.
first check wether you received a valid ip address for your local network. usually, this should be something like 192.168.x.y. if so, then you might indeed face a dns issue. dns is used to resolve web site names to ip address. usually, your ip service provider will broadcast the external dns servers for your router to recognize.
try to connect with a computer first. if it works, check the ip settings. if your computer also cannot connect without explicit dns server settings you can do one of the following: - explicit dns server address in ps3. go to "advanced internet connection settings", and then to "dns settings" and set the dns server address - purchase a 30$ network router and hook it between your internet and the ps3. in the router settings, set the dns server address to be broadcasted to the clients. you can use 168.126.63.1 and 2 which are dns servers in korea (i live in korea), but you might want to find the server near to your location or promoted by your isp
