Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

My RCA RTD315W has been working well for a few months, but then starting making popping noises. These pops would then cut off all other sound and freeze the receiver, so it would not react to any input (remote or buttons, including power). At no time did I have the volume loud, so the speakers are not blown. This is also apparent since the receiver itself freezes up. I have checked all wires, they are all in good condition and connected properly. I have tried plugging the receiver into different outlets. Nothing worked.

There should be an regulator IC( Integrated Circuit) that controls the volume and the power on the main board. This IC also has a voltage check sum circuit to place the receiver unit in standby mode or protection mode to protect the rest of the main board from current and voltage surges.
You unit is in need of service. A tech will determine the area that needs repair with a oscilloscope and the schematic.

My su-g95 technics Stereo integrated amplifier wont play any noise. and when i adjust the volume it makes a popping/crackling noise. i am 100% sure all the speakers were hooked up correctly.

Well it sounds like your amplifier IC's are working correctly since you are hearing that pop. I have the same amplifier and every 10db increment it pops. Have you tried every input? Possibly try starting at a low volume, plug an RCA plug into CD or any other input, and touch the center prong of the other end of the cable. You should get a 60hz hum if your in the USA, otherwise it will be 50-55hz. Regardless it should make noise.

If you remove the volume knob, and tighten the nut below, it should take care of the popping noise, as well as any input noise issues. Based on my experiences with my MKII
