Hello,

If your printer is not printing and leaves a black smudge on the page, and since you just change the black ink cartridge, it is possible that the cartridge you just installed is not compatible with your printer or the problem could be that you will need to uninstall the printer driver from your system and re install back after uninstalling because it is likely that the printer driver on your system is corrupt that is why it is not printing.

If after all this and yet it is not still printing, you can carry out maintenance check on the printer by servicing it.

Take care.

Canon Pixma ip1500, bought new ink, cleaned print heads with alcohol, still not printing

Did you buy factory new Canon cartridges or third party cartridges.

If you are using factory new Canon ink, call Canon about their defective ink.

If you are using anything else, want to bet there is no such thing as a warranty.

Service error 5100 The unit has a new ink

Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

Canon PIXMA MX700 printhead immediately coated with ink, smudges

It's likely that the foam pads that the print head rests on when the printer is not in use are saturated with ink. They're to the right as you look into the printer: a rectangular one for black ink and a square one for the colored ink. If you power the printer off and back on, with the cover open, you'll see where the printhead goes to rest.

The pads aren't easy to get at, but you can blot them with a paper towel. Gummy, half-dried ink dissolves in rubbing alcohol, and you can soak a paper towel or a cotton ball with alcohol and wipe down the area. I've had good luck soaking the pads with alcohol, then blotting them dry with a rag.

Hi, Just replaced colour and black ink cartidges ( both new not refills)in our pixma ip1500. We have done all the maintenance but it seems like no ink is coming through. Every print is very pale, and...

Do not throw it away. It has taken you so much cost ok?. Print blank can be caused by:
  • Purge unit is faulty cannot **** ink from ink cartridge
  • Print head is faulty
  • Logic board is faulty
In some cases short circuitry in print head can cause this problem. Please be careful of this. Replacing print head can damage new print head. I suggest you to bring the printer to nearest service center.

I hope this will be useful for you and please your rating

Pixma iP1500:new ink cartridges fitted but no Magenta

Take a look at the mounting point. They break very easily on this model. If not broke, try cleaning with a swab and inserting the cart again.

PIXMA IP1500 - CANON PRINTER

Confirm that the ink tanks are installed properly When replacing the ink tanks, confirm that the new ink tanks are installed properly. If the ink tanks are not locked into place, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be supplied to the print head.
  1. Check that the printer is powered on and open the front cover.

  2. Wait until the print head moves to the center.

  3. Check if the ink tanks are installed properly.

  4. When installing the ink tanks, push the top of the ink tank until a click sound is made.

Note: If the ink tanks are not installed properly, paper may not be fed properly, or ink may not be ejected.

  5. Close the front cover.

Not printing correctly

you need to run the clean print head from the software utility or from the printer menu. you may need to run it a few times until the test pages looks good

this is common on ink jet printers, the nozzles may get clogged
