Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I need to Replace a bad 240-V electrical receptacle that my Samsung Window Unit Air Conditioner was plugged into and am wondering if Ace Hardware or Wal Mart would carry it and if I should just buy any 240-V electrical receptacle or is the a specific type/model/make that I need to purchase?

You will need to properly match it via the prongs and the maximum current. Your local hardware store or electrical supply house will have staff on-hand to assist you. Take your old receptacle with you. :-)

Here are some reviews and questions that have already been asked on Fixya. any appliance that is only used for a few months of the year and then rests for months is going to exhibit some problems eventually. Usually just a matter of getting an AC engineer to add some more refrigerant gas.

Need new power control unit plug old one into 220 volt instead of 110 volt. can power unit only bee replaced

If yo mean power socket, you can get it from electrical shop.

If you mean the input power, you have to use booster (Transformer_). 110vts to 220vts.

    Thanks.

What type of wall plug can I use for this air conditioner! My whole house is 110 or 220

If it is a 110 unit, use a regular wall receptacle ,if it is a 220 unit, use a 220 receptacle for 220 it will be made larger and different.Draw a picture of the plug on the end of the cord and go to the hardware store and get them to help you i d the plug.some 110 units are 40 amp,and are a little different than the regular 110 house hold 20 amp receptacle.

My air conditioner doesn't turn on, what do I look for?

If your room air conditioner doesn't go on at all: 1) Check the power source first: be sure it's plugged in and turned on. 2) Then check the outlet by unplugging the air conditioner and plugging in a light that works (only for standard-voltage models--do not plug a light into a 220/240-volt receptacle!). 3) If the light doesn't go on, the circuit has probably overloaded--check the electric panel or fuse box and reset the breaker or replace the fuse. 4) If the light works, it's likely that the air conditioner's switch is faulty or the thermostat needs adjustment or repair. 5) Be sure the thermostat is set to "cool" and below room temperature. 6) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for thermostat repair. If adjusting or repairing the thermostat doesn't solve the problem, unplug the unit and call an air conditioning technician.
