Hi,

If the unit does not turn on at all (no green light) then the chances are you have blown the F2 fuse...

This fuse is internal and is less than 2mm wide on its longest length.

If you have a warranty I would suggest you send it off for repair, if not you can either find a good repair service on the net (such as ebay) or repair it yourself.

If you do decide to go down the D.I.Y route you will need a few specialist tools and some good soldering skills. As I said before the fuse is very small and so you will need a steady hand to replace it.

All the tools and parts can be found on ebay... If you would like some info on where the fuse is, what tools you will need and how to go about replacing it then click on my name to get to my profile page... from there you will see a list of guides I have written, all the info you should need will be in them.

If you need any further help or advice please feel free to contact me and I will help you out as best I can.

Regards,

    Hi,

Had the unit been dropped at all?

    Does it rattle if shaken?

When you take out the battery have a look at the bottom left had side of the battery compartment... you will see a little bit of square paper stuck there. If the paper is pink or partially pink then the unit has received water damage... Although it may never have been put in water using it i a damp area such as a bathroom or a room suffering from damp can cause the same problems. If the square piece of paper is white with red spots there is no water damage.

If it is water damage there is little you can do about it apart from replacing the entire motherboard/ send it off for repair (they too will replace the motherboard).

If the unit rattles when shaken then chances are the L2 component has come loose... this is very easy to repair, all you have to do is solder it back on... For the location of the L2 component click on my name and look for the fuse replacement guide.., In this guide there is a photo with the locations of various parts/ components.

Even if the L2 component seems to be secure sometimes a crack in the solder securing it can cause this issue you are esperiencing, it is a good idea to resolder/ reseat the L2 component to see if it resolves the issue. This is very easy to do, simply hold the soldering iron tip onto the solder so it melts then remove the iron to let it solidify again, do this on both ends.

If none of these options help then please get back to me and I will continue to help as best i can.

    Regards,

When i try to power on my son's DS Lite, the red light is on, and both screens power on for about 2-3 seconds max and then the system shuts off. It also wont charge when connected to the wall.

You may need to get a replacement battery pack when the battery is below 30% the light will turn red, the battery requires 4 hours to charge, and when the battery is fully charged the amber colored light will turn off. If you still need to purchase a new battery contact nintendo cust serv at 800-255-3700 or you can order online at nintendo.com You will need a #00 philips screw driver to remove the battery cover, install the battery with the 2 tabs in first, close compartment and allow battery to fully charge before use. The average battery will last for about 500 charges. Hope this helps

My ds lite wont turn on but it charges fine

if your ds is about 2 years old, it's probably time to change the battery. even though the battery is rechargeable, it wont hold a charge as it gets older. no matter how long you keep it on the charger, the battery is truly dead and it wont turn on. if anything, replace the battery. if your ds is brand spanking new, then you probably didn't leave it on the charger long enough to begin with.

hope this helped

My son's DS is frozen. We bought a generic DC

Has probably corrupted the DS's memory, small though it is. Replace the memory to unfreeze. Alternatively get angry and stamp on it. (2nd method worked on my psp, though not advised.)

We think a neighbor girl spilled liquid on/in my son's DS Lite. It now won't power on and the orange light will stay on for only a minute or two when we attempt to charge the unit. The battery is good......

If the DS was turned on when the liquid was spilled on it I don't think there is much hope to be honest:(

If it's under warrenty send it back otherwise you might try taking it apart and use a hair dryer to dry it off... that's a long shot though!

My son's nintendo ds won't come on even though it is fully charged. The light turns green then it just turns off.

This situation is most likely battery related. When a rechargeable battery is used, each charge, the capacity is slightly decreased. I would strongly recommend getting a new battery.

Ds lite

You never want to play the DS while it's charging, if constsntly persisted it can cause a form of battery leak.

IMPORTANT: Don't charge the DS until it dies on you completely!

When charging the DS the system will display a red light to show it's at its lowest energy, the time it takes to fully charge a DS can take up to 2-3 hours. In the second hour of charging the light will appear green but you don't want to disturb it until the light goes off. ( showing it's energy is full )
