Question about Maytag PYE2300AY Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer model is PYE2300AYW Approx 5 yrs old--no troubles before; clean filter every time but it's in a bathroom with the back in an enclosed closet. When i pulled away the wooden piece covering the back, I found a lot of lint buildup but the plug, hoses and venting intact. It had been working normally until it just stopped--and now it just won't start. I suspect a fuse might be out, but it's purely a guess. I hope it's something like a quick fix, but am not sure. It will be a huge challenge to move it out of it's location, but I need to get it going again. Any advice?

Hi.

Replace the thermal fuse in the heater assembly. Here the part.

When there is too much lint, this cause overheating, and the fuse is the first part to blow.

The thermal fuse is only $3 or so, but if you want to test the fuse before replacement you can use a multimeter set on Ohms. If the fuse has blown, the multimeter will read infinite impedance on the fuse contacts.

Regards.

Maytag dryer model PYE2300AYW dryer runs gets hot stops. when I try to turn it back on it makes a noise and won't start back up. What could be wrong?

It sounds like your motor is bad. you could take the dryer apart and clean off the lint on the motor and see if that helps but it sounds like i said the motor is faulty.

Maytag performa dryer model pye2300ayw, what should the ohms reading be on the thermal fuse?

doesn't matter,it's either good or bad, when you touch the meter to it if it reads 1 and doen't move it's bad if you get any reading it's good,if the dryer is loaded with lint in the duct that the lint filter slides into and the vent line is blocked it will keep popping on you, clean out the dryer, number one cause for popping the thermal fuse

I have a trouble code 11 on my Rinnai model 2532 water heater which indicates no ignition. I checked for gas supply by turning the furnace on which is approx. 1 ft. away, it works. The water heater is...

11 is a ignition failure code. Could be alot of things, I suggest calling a tech who has repaired these before. Pull the front cover off and have a helper turn on a hot water faucet. Look thru the viewing window to see if the unit is firing then going out. If not, clean out the water filter on the inlet side of the plumbing. You will need to turn off the water supply prior to cleaning it. If the unit fires but shuts off seconds after ignition, you may have a dirty or bad sensor. Call a proffessional at this point. Sorry

How to remove lint tray receiver: maytag dryer model#pye2300ayw

Unplug first with a straight blade screwdriver, pry up on the top of the dryer where the front wall of the dryer and the top meet. there are 2 screws 1 on each side inside the dryer where the sides and front meet, remove them and unhook the wires from the door switch. the whole front will now pull out and up, now open the door remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the door opening and the whole lint tray will pull out. sounds like a lot but only takes about 5 minutes.
