In order to use your camera, Yahoo messenger must recognize it. If the driver is not compatible with Internet webcam usage, Yahoo Messenger will not recognize it.

Hello gkml15
the following is a link for a yahoo webcam compatibility test. http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?y=PROD_MSNG&page=content&id=SLN1275&actp=lorax&locale=en_CA
If your webcam is compatible, please update your web cams software to the newest version.

Which version r u using? 8 or 9 beta?

1.for 9 beta:
*Can you see your cam clearly? I mean no black screen.

Click the pull-down menu and select the camera you want to use.

First, please check your connectivity settings within Yahoo! Messenger to make sure you're not connecting through a proxy server. Here's how:

Select " Yahoo! Messenger."
Select "Preferences."
Select "Connection."
Select "No Proxies."
Click "OK."
Close Yahoo! Messenger completely and start the program again. This should eliminate the error message.

I plug my Lifecam vx-700 to my Laptop w/ a Vista O.S, it was detect and the system said that my webcam was successfully installed. but when i try use my YAHOO MESSENGER it's not working, when i click the...

Plug in your webcam and visit this site - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
Do not proceed if the camera fails to work here, but concentrate on your webcam software / drivers

http://www.testmycam.com/

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to Yahoo Messenger 10.

COMPATIBILITY WITH YAHOO MESSENGER

You MUST use Internet Explorer to visit this page, with your webcam plugged in, to check compatibility and automatically download the latest webcam control. Make sure your webcam broadcasts on this page before moving on

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger10/webcam/mstacamtest.html

CONFIGURE SOFTWARE
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the Yahoo software may have difficulty in locating it. Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, if yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Of all the chat programs, Yahoo is the most painful software to set up but if you follow these instructions you should be ok.

INTERNET CONNECTION
Webcam connected
Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK

TESTING
> Messenger > My webcam - the warning panel will launch, click 'OK' and your webcam will start. You should be rewarded at this stage with your happy smiling face.

SET WEBCAM DEFAULT
With webcam still running > Messenger > Preferences > Webcam Broadcast > Camera Source - set your webcam as default using dropbox. > Camera Settings - adjust settings to suit. > Apply > OK
Take a note of any additional software, if you have multiple choice for Camera Source, you may wish to uninstall any redundant webcam software later to prevent conflicts

AUDIO
Open Video and Voice - run through your default equipment and make a test call - click OK

PERMISSION OPTIONS
> Messenger > Preferences > Webcam - make your default equipment selections and who you will allow to view you > Apply >

I have an acer aspire 5735z laptop webcam

Dear Sir,

Acer Aspire Model generally comes with a bison web cam driver.
To use the web cam search for an application that installed in program files. In windows Xp web cam can be used by double clicking camera icon present in my computer. If you are using windows vista or other operating system you need an camera application software,to use it. Without application software you can use your web camera only in messengers, for example yahoo messenger. If u had an yahoo messenger login and click on view my web cam,now you can see your face in your laptop. So first thing is search for an application software installed on your laptop.

good luck

hi dude,
have a look if have a special key for ur camera on ur laptop keyboard, that u can select to enable or disable ur cam.

if not then:

looks like u got a problem with ur cam driver. so to solve this issue u have to install ur cam driver.

The most easiest way if u r not familiar with drivers is to Recover ur entire system. for this u have to use ur Recovery Disc provided by ur laptop manufacturer. but beware u may loose all of ur saved stuffs on ur laptop, so better back it up.

or

the next way i can suggest u is to reinstall ur cam driver seperately. try to look for ur cam drivers in the recovery disc, or geton to ur laptop manufacturer website and download it for there. install it, should work. if u need help in finding ur cam driver i can proide ur insted let me know ur laptop model.

if none of these above specified procedure helped then might be a technical problem with ur camera. time to send it to service.

please leave me a rating if id did help or not .... thanks dude, hope ur problem solves.
