Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Washing machine will not start cycle

Dear Repairman,

I have replaced the control panel according to your instructions, however, after I plugged the power cord in and selected a cycle, and held the start button down for at least a second, the cycle does not start.

All of the lights and buttons appear to work properly, just the start button does not start the cycle.

FYI, I replaced the control panel because the plastic bracket for the start button had broken off the control panel. While waiting for the part, we continued to operate the machine with the green start button removed by sticking my little finger in the panel cover hole to push the small start button on the control panel until it finally quit working altogether as pushing the button for a second would not start the cycle. I assumed the control panel start button had failed, but now that the newly installed control panel does not start the unit I wonder if there is another problem.

Can you help?

Thank you,

I can not enter the test mode successfully. All of this part - "Activate the diagnostic test mode to check the functions of the washer.
Close the door and press the Control On button. Select Drain/Spin cycle
with the cycle selector and select No Spin by pressing the Spin Select
button as needed." Went fine according to your instructions.

But this part - " Push the Prewash option button 4 times
within 5 seconds" did not as the display continued to read 2:00 as it did after selecting the no spin option.

I first just pushed the prewash button 4 times within five seconds ignoring the beeps. After the display did not change from 2:00, I pushed the buttons and listened to the beep sequence.

The beep response as I push the Prewash button is as follows:
    First button push - 2beeps
    Second push - 3 beeps
    Third push - 3 beeps
    fourth push - no beeps

To listen to the beeps, it takes more than 5 seconds to get 4 pushes done. The cycle of beep tones is repetitive in the order listed above and will pick up where ever you leave off before you hit the cancel button to start over. Do I need to make it start on a specific beep response to get into the diagnostic mode? I will try that while I am wait to hear back from you.

    What next?

    Thank you

I spoke with another consultant in your absence and she says that because I can not get the unit to go in to diagnostic mode that the problem must be a faulty motor. I did not have a faulty motor before I replaced the panel. Do you agree with this diagnosis?

Activate the diagnostic test mode to check the functions of the washer. Close the door and press the Control On button. Select Drain/Spin cycle with the cycle selector and select No Spin by pressing the Spin Select button as needed. Push the Prewash option button 4 times within 5 seconds. If your washer doesn't have the Prewash option, press Rinse/Hold.

C:00 will display indicating that the test mode is entered successfully. If unsuccessful, press the Pause/Cancel button then repeat starting the sequence.

Push the Prewash button 2 times to advance to the next step of the test. The last step is indicated by C:08. Check for any error code after the test.

    Here are the test steps:

C:00 - The door is locked to check the door lock system.
C:01 - The cold water inlet valve is activated to check the flow meter and the cold water inlet valve.
C:02 - Distribution System is set to Prewash position to check the dispenser motor and the dispenser contact.
C:03 - The hot water inlet valve is activated.
C:04 - The basket rotates at wash speed to check the motor and the motor control.
C:05 - Heater is switched on and basket rotates at wash speed. The washer fills to the minimum level if there's no enough water in the machine.
C:06 - The drain pump turns on.
C:07 - The basket rotates counterclockwise from 35 to 90 RPM within 15 seconds.
C:08 - The basket rotates with maximum speed.

Entering the diagnostic mode doesn't require the motor or any other component to be good except the user interface and the machine control. The user interface is newly replaced; therefore the machine is most probably or the door switch is not activating.

Remove the top panel and check the door switch continuity when the door is closed. The door switch wiring harness connector is located just above the ribbon cable connector on the left side of the machine control (central control unit). Replace the door lock and switch assembly of there's no continuity even when the door is closed.

Retry entering the diagnostic mode but unplug the washer first then plug back before doing so. The control must be off prior to the pressing of the Control On button. The controls should turn on only when the Control On button is pushed.

Washer repeats entire cycle - does not stop at end of spin cycle.

It is possible that presence of moisture within the START button can trigger the cycle to continue as it keep the processor to continue the wash cycle,Hence you must remove the panel and board after disconnecting the wiring harness and use a hair dryer to warm off any presence of moisture on the panel and board. Do it with time to ensure there is no moisture within the panel.
I think this must solve the issue. Repeat the work many times as sometimes moisture and dirt together might form a conductive bond to trigger as a pressed on switch. If possible open panel to clean switch pad.

Had ld reading on screen which is nicked or clogged hose repairman came and replaced pump. i washed 1 rug and it was fine, went to wash another load and got the same ld reading as before, called and was...

You should not wash rugs in this machine. The Long Drain is caused by rubber backing from the rugs flaking off and jamming the pressure tubing. The control cannot detect if water is leaving the machine ok. Take that tubing off the control and blow it out. This washer uses a small amount of water which is continually dumped over the clothes. The pump is strong on these washers. The problem is gonna be sediment in the base of the tub clogging that tubing.

Ariston A1635 Margherita Control knob spinning

According to the instruction book - it appears the machine has been stopped mid cycle then re-started.
Switch machine off, turn control knob to a solid circle symbol (they are after every set cycle). Switch machine back on and lights will flash and program is reset. You can then select wash cycle as normal.

Washing machine suddenly stopped working during cycle

Hard Reset - In some cases the control can be non-functioning or may not accept activation from the control panel. To clear and restart the control follow the these steps:

* Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
* Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit back into the wall outlet.
* Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the "PF" in the display.
* Start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

Press and hold the "End of Cycle Signal" button to lock or unlock the control panel. The instructions should be printed directly below this button. I hope this helps you.
