Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers

1 Answer

I have a GU1500XTLB1, type-575-0 Whirlpool Gold dishwasher. For the last couple of weeks I've been getting the control lock on. I got the manual out, I hold the air dry button and it clears. My problem is now when I turn the machine on dosen't matter which cycle I hit (pots and pans, normal, or quick wash) it runs for about 5 minutes and it goes into a mode with the timer having lines going horizontal with the air dry button lit up and rinse button lit up. It sounds like it starts the cycle but shuts down and freezes in this mode. I've hit cancel three times and it pumps the water down like its suppsoe to. Could I have a problem with door sensor because now when I push the door in there is a fine line I can push it in 2 min.'s will light up and then go away. I can't get the water to pump out. Does it sound like the cycle motor/pump has a problem?

To clear the control lock I hold the air dry button down for 5 seconds. Right now it will not do anything. I have horrizontal lines on the timer with the rinse only button blinking, air dry button blinkin. I tried and it didn't work but I didn't understand this comment( IF not, look for the lock symbol and follow same instructions for that particular key) Is Hi temp wash and Hi temp scour the same thing
    .

I know your busy and right I sent the reply the dishwasher came on. Right now its sitting with the water out of the bottom. Do you want me to try it and what mode? Thanks, Rodney !!!

  • Taylorrt2100 Apr 23, 2010

I tried this and in the middle of typing one response it came on and pumped the water out. I was going to try it again and the same thing is happening. Horrizontal lines on the timer, air dry/ rinse only are flashing. I tried hitting cancel it takes the horrizontal lines off but will do nothing. I tried hitting the buttons in sequence, my question is Hi temp scour the same as hi temp dry

  • Taylorrt2100 Apr 23, 2010

I've tried pushing every button and every sequence possible. When I said there was water in the bottom, I meant water in the bottom of the dishwater. It pumped it out, there isn't a leak coming out of the machine. Sorry for the confusion, let me know what to try next. Do you work tomorrow or will be answere from somebody else. Thanks, Rodney ~~~

Hi,

There are Few Tricks to Reset this. Follow the below Tricks :-

1. Try holding down heated dry key for 5 secs. I believe that is the control lock/unlock button on your model. IF not, look for the lock symbol and follow same instructions for that particular key.

2. Press the following buttons is sequence, you have 6 seconds to do this reset, hopefully the computer will reset itself and let you wash again.

1. Hi-Temp Wash
2. Air Dry
3. Hi-Temp Wash
4. Air Dry

If Problem still persists let me know and i would search few more tricks and then we could try to Fix this.

This is a Common Error Indication on this Machine and usually, this could be Reset.

Let me know,once done.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

No, these are Different. However, you could try the Combination. It depends on the Model to Model. I am still Searching the Exact Reset Procedure for your Model.

Usually ( 85% ), if the Control Lock would not Reset, it is Faulty Control Board. But, as you said, there is a leak from the bottom. So, i am in discussion with other experts on the same and would reply when i would get some data.Kindly bear for the Inconvenience.

    Let me know,once done.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for using
' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Whirlpool Gold quiet washplus dishwasher Red Light staying on--control locked Cannot get it to run, no buttons will do anything

Which model dishwasher do you have? The Control Lock is a feature that keeps a child from starting the dishwasher when it shouldn't run. The Cancel button will work but not the Start button.

On the DU920QWD, to toggle the Control Lock off, press and hold Air Dry for 5 or more seconds. (Holding it again will turn on the lock.) Most dishwashers will have a the Control Lock key labeled with text in a small font for how to enable the Lock. The direct link to the DU920QWDB4 manual is https://www.whirlpool.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%203376817.pdf .

For other Whirlpool dishwashers, the Control Lock sequence will be listed in the manual. You can get a PDF of many Whirlpool appliance manuals from http://www.whirlpool.com/owners-center/owners-center-homepage.content.html . Enter the model number (from the rim inside the unit) and click on the right arrow.

I hope this helps.

Whirlpool Gold dishwasher not cleaning dishes. It runs through the cycles and rinses, but dishes are not completely clean.

I had a similar problem with my last two dishwashers, with food still left on the dishes at the end of the cycle. What a nightmare. The most recent dishwasher is new, now the problem is solved. Here's what the manufacturer told me. Pour white vinegar (approximately 2 cups) into the dishwasher and run through the cycle. Buy some Cascade Complete and only use this type of soap for the dishwasher. Make sure you run a cup or two of the white vinegar through the dishwasher cycle once a week. My dishes are now clean and clear!!

I have a Whirlpool Gold freezer top refridgerator. Over the last couple of weeks the freezer has built up an awful lot of frost. There is nothing in the troubleshooting part of the manual that addresses...

Most likely a deforst issue, having to do with either the Defrost thermostat or the Defrost timer, given that this unit is not the newer style with the control board instead of the timer. Anymore questions feel free to ask.

Green Lights flashing, Whirlpool D/Washer not responding

Well I contacted a couple of techy guys I know and they were not familiar with the dishwasher. I then called the outlet we had purchased from to see if they could refer us to a service technician. I explained what I wanted and the woman on the phone asked what the problem was - she then asked me to close the door of the dishwasher and hold down the start button for 30-40 seconds to see what happens, which I did. At about the 30 second mark the machine started. She said it was likely that someone had interrupted the last cycle and we had effectively reset it. It ran a further 30 seconds to complete that last part of the interrupted cycle and has been fine ever since. My wife took them a box of chocolates the next day. Shows to go ay? Kind regards Peter

HI, this is a control fault and you can confirm failure by shutting off the breaker switch or unplugging for 5 minutes. if the unit continues to malfunction after the 5 minute reset, you will need to replace the electronic control board.

First press your "Sani-rinse" button and the your "Heat Dry" button and toggle between them a couple times. This will reset your control module. If the clean light continues to blink then it means that your heating element needs replacing.  This is not a big job, either. You will need to order a new element and come back for instructions if you can't figure it out quickly....
