Question about Jura Capresso Impressa S9 Coffee Maker/Espresso Machine

1 Answer

I seem to be experiencing an electronic sensor problem with my Impressa S-9 one touch unit. Last October I returned my unit because of the same difficulty, a replacement (not new) arrived in November last year. Now, 6mos. later and the problem has returned. There is a "male, female" sensor interlock, the male portion located on the back of the removable tray and the female portion located in the frame of the unit. If I play with it, I can get the interlock to work for a short period of time and then it reverts to it's message to either "empty tray" (which is already empty) or indicates that the tray is missing. It is a nanosecond trip over from one message to the other, with the "coffee ready" being between the two messages. I live in Belize in a VERY high humidity situation and it costs a dear price to send the unit back to the states for repair. Looking for suggestions!

From what I understand you have already realised that you need to replace the tray sensor but it is not easy and will cost you much.
So you can make a trick to your machine as follows.
If you can remove the side panel where you can find the the sensor on the body of the machine and you will see that the sensor have two wires on it. These wires are suposed to be connected together when the other part of the sensor located on the tray is insert, indicating that the tray is back on its place. Is like an on off switch.
So you can remove the sensor from the body of the machine and use the hole on the body in order to conect additional wires to come out from the machines. All you have to do now is to conect the two wires together manual. Every time you remove the tray to empty it you have to desconect the wires for some second and then conect them back together.
So now you will give the signal that the tray is out and them back in place by yourself and not automatic.
Then you can even try to find the sensor switch from internet and relace it your self so that the machine will work again automatic.

How can I fix my Jura Impressa z5? I have an error 4 on the display of my Jura Impressa Z5 coffee machine and other than turning it off at the power it won't do a thing.

Error 4 is in Plain text a Temperature measurement error in steam cycle (circuit)

Causes / Remedy:

Sorted in order of likeliness !!!

1) Thermal sensor is defective. Determine the resistance value at 20 degrees C to be about 12kOhm. - Replace thermal sensor if not.
OR
2) Cable broken to the thermal sensor or oxidized contacts. - Replace / repair the cable.
OR
3) Logic board defective - replace electronics / replace EEPROM.

If you want to do the job yourself. Parts for repair solutions above are
1) Replacement Thermal Sensor with cable GBP 19.99 plus postage
2) if you can fix broken wire or oxidized contact no need for parts
3) logic board GBP 198.99 plus postage (there might be the possibility to have EEPROM on the board replaced at a fraction of the price. Defective board must be sent in first.

It also is possible to sent in the machine for repair.

Jura impressa s9 is displaying error 1

The Owner Manual for the Jura Impressa S9 One Touch identifies Error 2 as being too cold and disabled for safety, but simply instructs to "Turn the IMPRESSA off at the power switch. Contact Customer Support in your country." for all other errors.

My Jura Capresso F9 keeps making coffee when no one is pushing the buttons. It is always a big cup, mild. Any ideas what could cause this, other than a ghost who likes weak coffee, as my 5-year-old...

Apparently after a few yrs of use the steam wafting up from a cup of coffee works its way into the electronics touch screen mechanism causing it to turn on by itself...since moisture is such a good conductor for electricity it seems like there is a "ghost in the machine"...credit "The Police" band for that quote...my simple solution was a 6-7 dollar desk fan purchased from Walmart and point it up across the front of the unit...problem solved!...just keep the fan running while you use the unit and save a bundle of $$ not having to send it back to Jura!...Bob in SC

F1-8 error

F1 indicates a clock or touch pad problem. F8 indicates a clock, or ERC (Electronic Range Control) problem. Are you receiving both codes? If so it seems likely that your touch pad and ERC are contained together in one module, and must be replaced. If you find however that they are separate modules it is possible to determine which is faulty by simply disconnecting power to the unit, disconnecting the touch pad from the ERC, and then powering it back up. Wait for a half hour or so to see if the unit sets the error code again with the touch pad disconnected. If it does the ERC is faulty, otherwise it is the touch pad.

Please note that if you do not have experience mucking about in your appliances inner workings it is best that this be done by an experienced technician.

No color when turned on, after a while it color returns.

This is a cold solder joint in the signal section of the set. After it heats up, that problem area conducts better. Have an experienced electronic person reflow some solder on the board.
