To change the text size you will need to right click on a blank part of the screen/desktop so you get display properties or click start then settings then control panel then display. When you get that window up you can click on the appearance tab along the top. In this window along the lower left is font size. You can increase the size of the font by clicking on the box then selecting the size you want. This will change the size of the font as soon as you click on apply. This only changes menu text sizes.

To change everything overall you want to click on the settings tab then the advanced button lower right. It should come up to the window we want but if not it is under the general tab. Under DPI settings (sometimes will show as text size or font size but all are the same setting) the default is set to 96 try selecting the 120 size. This will increase the size of the text used. You can also select custom and enter any number. You will probably have to reboot the computer after changing this unless you have it in the section below to apply without restarting. Hit apply and reboot if required and your text will now all be bigger. If the text is too much bigger than stock some programs or windows may not look right or the text is not aligned. Thats typical if the text is too big or the window it is in is a fixed size and can't change. If this happen you can try the custom setting to find a bigger size that won't cause problems.

You can also use the visually impaired utilities one of which is a magnifier. That just enlarges an area around the mouse so it isn't quite as easy for daily use.

I'm stumped on the % icon thing. What normally is there is the clock. Unless this is a icon that shows battery charge or something like that? You can usually get these to display again by starting the utility from the start menu - all programs and then look for a setting that says display on toolbar.

Reduce / Increase Text Size on My Gmail

Between the message list, search bar, labels and chat window, GMail's web interface displays a lot of information.

If your web browser is displaying all of these items in a large font, they may not fit comfortably on your screen.

Fortunately, you can easily change your web browser's text size on Gmail to ensure that all of the components fit.

Alternatively, you can use a special GMail Labs feature to change the default text size for all of the emails that you compose.

Navigate to your GMail inbox in your web browser.

Hold the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and press the "-" key. Your web browser will shrink all of the text on the current web page.

You can repeat this step to shrink the text even more.

Hold "Ctrl" and press "+" to increase the text size if you shrink it too much.
Gmail Default Font

Navigate to your GMail inbox and click the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Select "Labs" from the drop-down menu.
Scroll down to "Default Text Styling" and click "Enable."
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes."
Click the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen and select "Mail Settings." Click the "TT" icon in the "Default Text Style" section. Select "Small."

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes." Your new email messages will automatically use GMail's small text size.

Connecting a genbook to wifi

Turn on your computer and locate the Wi-Fi icon.

This is located in the system tray in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

The icon looks like a series of rectangles that increase in size from left to right.

Right-click the Wi-Fi icon and select "Connect to a network." You will see a list of available wireless networks.

Choose a Wi-Fi network you want to connect to and select "Connect."

Enter the password into the password text box if a password is required. If a password is not required, you will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network.

Click "OK."

Dont know how to control the volume, i cannot find my manual

Most of the time their are multiple ways to do this.

1. On the speaker in the lower right hand corner left click and a volume bar appears. Slide it up and down. It should be adjust to 75% IMO.

2. On your keys there should be symbols that look like speakers that should match the color of you "fn" key. Press and hold the fn key and then press the corresponding speaker key to increase or decrease the volume.

3. There may be a rotary volume control on the front of the laptop case. It's as simple as turning it to increase or decrease it.

On the volume bar in windows verify that the muted in unchecked.

How do I increase the size of the text being displayed on my laptop monitor ?

Hello,
To increase/decrease the font size,
1. Right click on the desk top screen (or double click on control panel, then choose personalize icon)
2. Under "Task" double click " adjust font size (dpi)" then click "continue".
3. Click "larger dpi" or "custom dpi" box. Choosing custom setting should indicate 100%.

To increase font size, type a percent greater than 100 (ie. 105%) or to decrease size, use a percent less than 100 (ie. 95%).
4. Click "ok". You may receive a message to restart computer for change to take effect.
5. Restart computer. Repeat process until you are happy with the results.

I have been trying to increase the print size one my computer for some time can you help me?

Right click on the desktop, SCREEN RESOLUTION, lowering the resolution will increase the text size. You can also check VIEW on that menu and select large icons.

Text size is the inverse of screen resolution.

Yesterday, when I powered up my laptop, everything was all of a sudden enlarged ( the desktp, icons, internet, text, e-mails, EVERYTHING). I know this is probably supposed to be some kind of useful tool...

Hi,

Your enlarged desktop could be caused by several different things, so I will address each one in the order of likelihood of each one:

1. You may have accidentally changed your Display Settings.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. Scroll down and click on Display Settings. Ensure that your Monitor Resolution is set for the maximum. If not, use your mouse to move the slider bar all the way to the right.

2. You may have accidentally changed the size of text and icons.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. Click on Change the size of text and icons about half way down the screen. If it is not selected, chose the default scale.

3. You may have accidentally turned on the Magnifier.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. About half way down the screen, uncheck the Turn on Magnifier.

To turn off the On-Screen Keyboard on start-up,
right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down, select Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard. Unselect Use On-Screen Keyboard.

To turn off the Narrator on start-up, right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About a third of the way down, select Use the computer without a display. Unselect Turn on Narrator.

I hope this helps. If so, please remember to rate my post.

Thanks!

Dell C840 Increasing resolution increase screen size and vice versa

Laptops when running in non native resolutions sometimes tend to use a small area, so that the bluring of text is not noticeable. The reason is that laptop text is only sharp in its native resolution, and in your case the possibility is that your native resolution is 1600x1200 (If you can post the exact model or a link with your machine configuration, I can confirm what the native resolution is).

However you can make the icons and text larger, the best way is to and change the font size in windows (display settings) from the normal to large or extra large. This makes all the fonts much larger and easy on the eye, and it also will keep the text large as you are still running it in native solution mode.
