Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator
6 Year old GE side by side - freon lline corroded and leaked all freon. Is this a common issue? Technician (not GE Tech, a local repairman) stated that the corrosion was result of manufacturer placing an 8 inch section of foam insulation on the return line. He stated that the insulation causes condensation around the line and that condensation is trapped in the insulation. I didn't think copper could corrode, but he showed me the corrosion and pin holes in the line. He stated that he has seen this often in GE friges.
Has anyone had success getting GE to address this outside of the warranty (my warranty expired one year ago)?
I am a tech that has worked on many ge ref's and have never seen GE do anthing outside of the units warranty. this is a common problem on ge units

Here is GE refrigerator that I repaired. Leak was at evaporator coil, but that evaporator coil comes with capillary tube and suction line already build into it. Hope that helps someone.
