Sure it is, if you can find one that fits the space and give you at least the same amount of space.... solid state drives are expensive, but use less battery.

Sony vaio vgn-fz21e upgrade solid state drive

If you are looking to upgrade to a solid state drive, or already have a solid state drive and just want to upgrade the size, you will have to purchase the new drive, when you receive the drive you will have to turn the notebook over and there should be a rectangular panel underneath about 5"x3" inches which can be removed by a small Philips head screw driver, remove the panel, carefully remove the hard drive installed, and install your new drive. Put all the parts back, and then you will have to do a clean install of an operating system on the new system. Good luck!

Unfortunately Sony doesn't make it easy, its requires quite a bite of work to pull it apart to swap it out. Here is a guide on how to take it apart: http://www.insidemylaptop.com/how-take-apart-sony-vaio-vgn-sz-series-laptop/

I was gifted with a Sony Vaio VGN A270P laptop. What I "want" to do is max the RAM out to the 2GB that is allowable and replace the hard drive with either a solid state, or "standard" 360GB hard drive then...

VAIO computer does not have drivers that will work for linux os.. they only work with windows,,
you can also upgrade the memory up to 2gb..

you can get the specifications from here user manual

VGN-Tx750p does not start up

The Operating System may have got corrupted. In this case, you may reinstall Windows using the VAIO Recovery Wizard, provided you've not changed the factory installed Windows Operating System.

The VAIO Computer is shipped with the VAIO Recovery Wizard housed in a 5 GB of hidden partition on the pre-installed Hard Drive.

Restart the Computer and keep tapping the F10 key until the VAIO logo appears to access the VAIO Recovery Wizard.

Follow the steps given in the link below to use the VAIO Recovery Wizard to reinstall Windows, Drivers and all the pre-installed applications.

Hi I'm llokig for a new hard drive for my vaio vgn t1xp but having difficulty as it is very small nad has a funny connector!

Hi there.
There are normally 2 kinds of hard drives in laptops at the moment apart from solid state HDD's which are mainly in Acer Onebooks etc.

2.5ins IDE HDD which looks like this >>>>>>

2.5ins SATA HDD which looks like this >>>>>

It will be one of these type of hard drive which goes into the Viao probably the SATA HDD.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
