Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

Hello Expert... I have a Whirlpool Washing Machine (model LA6300 x two. has always worked fine.. but recently seemed to need to be kicked torwards the end of the wash cycle.. As of yesterday, I can't get it to complete the wash cycle.. in other words it stops shaking, then sits with full water... and does not progress through rinse and spin cycles... Is there something I can reset or check to know if this is a FATAL problem? pmougis@verizon.net 914 591-5771

  • pmougis Apr 23, 2010

    Just double checked...

I turned the knob to just past the DOT towards the middle of the cycle and pulled the knob out..

the washer fed some water... then agitated for a few minutes with the pointer now 1/3 through that last section. the system has stopped... is not draining, or spinning...

I have the lid shut.. HELP...

The problem is a faulty lid switch if the washer fills and agitates but doesn't advance through the rinse and spin cycles and doesn't drain. If it fills, doesn't agitate or spin, but drains then the motor coupler is broken.

Verify the above functions and let us know which can be executed and which is not.

Access to the lid switch connector for testing requires the removal of the
console. Disconnect power to the washer prior to
servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Remove the screws attaching the console then
slightly pull the console forward to clear the console tabs from the
slots in the top of the washer. Once cleared, flip teh console to the
rear of the washer and disconnect the lid switch wiring harness from
    the cabinet.

Using a volt-ohmmeter (VOM), check the continuity between the terminals of the lid switch while activating it. Set the VOM to the R X 1 scale for accurate reading. There should be a continuity when the switch is activated; otherwise it is faulty and needs to be replaced.

It is indeed a bad lid switch; otherwise the timer has a dead spot. Check first the lid switch as stated in the previous post.

Once the console is removed and the lid switch connector is accessed, you can bypass the lid switch and run a cycle. Replace the lid switch if the washer advances to the rinse and spin cycle after it is bypassed; otherwise consider replacing the timer.

Hello,

Of course it worth to change the belt, is more cheap then a new washing maschine.
After 7 years of usage my Samsung washing machine was doing same problem. I change the belt with a new one about 3 years ago, and it's working fine.

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL TOP LOADER MODEL 3LSR6253E01 MY WASHING COMES OUT COVERED IN LINT. I CANT FIND A FILTER ON THE MACHINE IS THERE ONE? PLEASE HELP THANKS KATE

All washing machine have lint filters to protect the pump, but they generally have quite large holes and although called 'lint' filters, they are to stop baby socks and coins getting into the pump. They are always at the bottom of the machine behind the front kick panel on a front loader or under the agitator on a top loader.

If your washing comes out covered in lint, you need to find the item that is shedding it. May also be paper tissues left in pockets. We only have one item that sheds lint and that is a bathmat. We wash it separately.

Take a look at this video.

Remove the top and and check the hose from the dispenser to the tub for clogs and see if the actuator motor is working is what I would do using this handy dandy SERVICE MANUAL( For American models)
Sorry that is all I have. If you are across the pond you may be able to a manual from Espares.

We have a Whirlpool awm8143 model front loader. works fine

this could signify that you have the outlet hose to far down the outlet pipe of the machine, or if you have it plumbed in to the plumbing under the sink you could have dirty sink water flowing back into the machine

Washing machine does go thru spin cycle or drain water.

If the washer does not spin, take off the rubber bumbers inculding the little washers attached, inside the lid. It lowers the lid, which takes care of the problem. I had the same problem. Not anymore! Trust me, if nothing is wrong with any other part of the washer, this will work.
