Question about Euro-Pro 9120 Computerized Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Someone gave my daughter a Uro-Pro sewing machine and didn't have the instruction booket. We don't know how to thread the bobbin in a side winding machine. The number on the bottom is #50310656J. Can you help? Can I get an instruction booket?

I need a manual for a singer touch and sew machine. It,s pretty old so i gope you can help me. I don,t know how to wind the bobbin. Help!!

Unlikely you will get a manual but here are the instructions.
Presser foot up, thread the top of the machine as normal all the way and through the needle, open slide plate, push the little button to the side and the winder will raise, take the thread from the needle and wind it round a few times round the screw that holds the presser foot on, gently press on the foot control and the needle will go up and down winding the bobbin, when you have enough thread on the bobbin close the slide plate and you will hear the winder drop down, pull the thread to the back of the machine and you are ready to sew

Bobbin not winding tightly

Consult your owner's manual. Possibly, you are not threading the bobbin winder correctly. The thread does go through a tensioner somewhere along the way that creates tension on the thread.
Janome MEMORY CRAFT 9700 Instruction Book Threading For Bobbin Winding
Or perhaps the tensioner is not working properly.

If neither is problem, then you can always pick up a stand-alone bobbin winder (Amazon, JoAnn's, etc) for ~$30. One brand is called Sidewinder. These bobbin winders are marvelous because you can wind bobbins without unthreading your machine. It also saves wear and tear on your machine.

Or take your machine for service.

My elna sewing machine bobbin won't spin on top to wind thread around. The fly wheel spins though...I've been putting thread on the bobbins by hand.

If the fly wheel is going around then the clutch isn't disengaged to wind the bobbin, you need to pull out the flywheel on your model to disengage the clutch for bobbin winding.

Take thread from thread spool across to bobbin winder thread guide, then back to bobbin and thread the tail through the hole on top of the bobbin. Place bobbin onto spindle on top of machine and then push it against the stop to engage the bobbin winding motor. HOld the thread tail up and start winding slowly until the bobbin core has been covered including the starting point. Stop and trim off the thread tail with scissors. COntinue winding bobbin and give the thread a nudge if needed to wind evening top middle and bottom of the bobbin. A good smooth wind is important. Also don't wind at full speed and keep an eye on the thread reel that the thread is coming off, you don't want it bouncing around as this will **** the thread and stretch then relax it affecting your bobbin wind.

Obviously if you know this and the bobbin winding mechanisim is just not working, then it will need a service/replacement by an Elna repair person.

Hi I am having problems with the top tension on my Singer 2662. I am following the instruction manual but nothing I seem to try works. Or it works for a while and then the next time I sew I have problems...

I would suggest that you revisit the threading up in your manual and double check that the top thread is under tension.

However, if the stitiching on top of the fabric is wonky, this is your bottom tension too loose, and if stitching on the the underside of the fabric is loose, its the top tension causing it.

Quite often bobbin winding can be the cause of bad stitching so pull out the manual and wind a bobbin carefully following the instructions, making sure that the thread is under gentle tension as it winds. What you don't want is for the thread spool to bounce around as it unwinds onto the bobbin as this gives uneven tension of the thread and when you then stitch a seam, the thread relaxes in different amounts causing puckering.

So wind at 3/4 speed, and gently guide the thread onto the bobbin so it fills evenly across the whole core. And ensure there is tension on via a tension guide if your machine has one. If not, then place the curved handle of your scissors onto the top of the thread spool and hold it there as you wind, which holds the spool down and keeps the thread coming off it smoothly.

Always raise the pressure foot when you thread the machine so the top thread goes into tension fully. And new needle for each new sewing job is really important, make sure it is the right size and type of needle for the fabric you are sewing. if you aren't sure what size is right www.sewing.about.com has great tips and general machine info, plus needle guides.

How do you load the bobbin properly?

Hi there,

Well you may please follow the steps below -
1. Remove the bobbin from the sewing machine. Note: whether you have a drop-in, front or side-loading bobbin on your sewing machine. A drop in bobbin will load from the top, may be via a removable bobbin case cover near the machine-fed dogs. A side or front loading bobbin needs to be loaded into a removable bobbin case under the machine.
2. Choose the right size bobbin for the sewing machine.
3. Wind thread onto your bobbin. Your sewing machine should have a standard thread spool to hold the thread and a short, squat post wide enough for a bobbin.
4. Put the thread and empty bobbin into position on your sewing machine. Wrap the thread around the bobbin to start it. On most machines, disengage the needle by turning the smaller hand-wheel on the machine toward you. Push the bobbin post into position, securing the bobbin into place. Press gently down. Thread should begin to wind neatly onto your bobbin.
5. Break the thread, push the bobbin post back into an inactive position and remove the bobbin. Tighten the hand-wheel. Thread your sewing machine again if necessary before loading the bobbin.
6. Remove the bobbin case cover and put the bobbin into position. The thread should slide through a catch on the bobbin case and up through the cover.
7. Access the bobbin case for a front or side mount bobbin. Lift the catch and remove the removable bobbin holder. Put the bobbin into the holder and run the thread through the holder, bringing it to the front. Lift the catch and slide the bobbin holder back into the case. Hold your needle thread gently forward with your left hand and turn the hand-wheel. The needle thread will pass down into the machine and catch a loop of the bobbin thread. Pull this loop up and slide both threads to the back before beginning to sew.
Good Luck!!

Thanks for using FixYa!!

My bobbin isnt winding correctly

re-thread sewing machine for bobbin winding. There should be a screw looking thing that holds the thread taut while threading

After following instructions on winding the bobbin for the fast bobbin winding system, the bobbin is not threading

If the bobbin spool is spinning, it will thread.

Take the end of the thread through one of the little holes in the side of the bobbin spool and pull out about 8" of thread. Hold onto it as the bobbin begins to spin.

After the thread has wound 5 - 6 turns, stop the machine and cut off the thread end. Continue the winding process.

We have 2 singer 7442 machines and they will no longer wind the bobbin. Up to this point we followed the instructions the manual gave on how to thread and wind the bobbin. How do we fix?

If you have followed the instructions and the winders do not work, the machines will need to be repaired, or you could purchase a Sidewinder Bobbin Winder and forgo the expense of having the machines repaired.

New Sewing Genie doesn't sew

they are not accurate, but also this machine is not the greatest with all types of thread, try using rayon or polyester thread when trying to wind a bobbin (cotton thread on these machines are typically sometimes hard) let me know and if this does not work ill send over what I have as far as directions
