Question about Brother SE-270D Computerized Sewing Machine

The gear thread feeder retaining ring keeps flying off. My husband is a copier tech and knows how to install this part but, after he does and I send each needle to home position, I can get about 100,000 stitches before the ring pops off. My machine is an Amaya XT. Can you give us any ideas?

the main concern is that there is friction or binding up on the gear that is causing the ring to pop off. The tech support that came with my purchase of the equipment says that the problem that I have only occurs if the ring is spread too wide upon insertion or the gear shaft is damaged. My husband has been a copier tech for 28 years and does work similar to this on a daily bases. He says that it is not either one of those things. Thank you for letting me pick your brain.

My gear thread feeder ring is popping off. It has been installed correctly twice but, my husband (a copier tech for 28 years) says that there is pressure or something that the gear is hitting on to make the ring pop off. I have an Amaya XT. Tech support (for my warranty) has said that this is usually due to improper installation but, the retaining ring has been installed properly. Can anyone help?

You have one of two things that is the problem:
either your retaining ring is worn or slightly warped enough that is not making a tight enough fit OR the groove that your retaining rings slips in is worn and preventing a tight fit.

A good starting point is to take the retaining ring to a hardware store or a machine shop and have them match it up (assuming you have the original ring and not a replacement already) and get a replacement ring. This should take care of your problem. If you have already replaced the ring, you should verify from the manufacturer that you have the right size ring....or try a different size.

I do hope this information is found to be helpful to you moving forward.

Hello. When the ring is installed use a product called loctite threadlock, available at any hardware store. Joe

I have a brother cs-8060 sewing machine but I don't have the manual for it. When I start to sew the machine makes a loud sound the and woont sew normally and then I get an E6 flashing on the machine.

An E6 error indicates a thread tangle. Combined with the noises you are hearing my guess would be that the tangle is around the take-up lever pivot and is seizing the machine (causing an overload - hence why it won't sew). The origin of this is often a further thread tangle between the tension disks, which has allowed the thread to fly loosely around the take-up. Your best bet will be to take it to your local sewing centre. This is the sort of issue we commonly address as a part of servicing. You will find a description of what you might try in the Service Centre section of our shop's website http://www.kornacraft.com.au/sewingcentre-under-the-covers/

The needle thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

Singer Sewing Machine model 9224. Bobbin thread

If you turn the handwheel, can you see a metal ring rotating around the outer edge of the bobbin case? If not rotating, broken gear or timing belt off.
If that ring is turning, remove the needle plate and bobbin case. As this ring now rotates, you will a finger on the ring that will pass behind the needle from right to left and it should catch the thread from the eye of the needle. If this finger, the "hook" passes above the eye, you have a timing problem.

Let me know.

Needle not picking up bobbin thread. Seems threaded properly. lsd-1 (classic) Problem occurred after needle hit something perhaps the the cap spring which had some marks on it but no real damage. ...

change the needle, if bent it may skip, use top thread while holding to pull thru, turn bobin around to turn in oposite dirrection, bobins usually turn in 1 correct dirrection

The top thread keep breaking. should the tension

Thread breakage is usually due to the needle in backwards, upper tension too tight or old/weak thread.

When replacing the needle, make sure that the flat side is to the right (3 o'clock position) and is pushed all of the way up before tightening.

What brand and weight of thread are you using and are you sewing with the foot or free motion sewing?

Thread keeps gathering from the bottom, jams then breaks needle.

The burr is NOT good for sure, most parts on a machine can be replaced.
