My washer has a little water left in the bottom of the drum and the washer has a smell of mildew. The pump is pumping great but isn't finishing the job. What would be the problem?

Hiya,
sometimes you can get a buildup of lint in the drainige system try checking the waist pipe & drainige pipes if you have a build up of lent in them or if the waist pipe is pushed to far down a drainige this can reduce the amount of water escaping & leave it in your machine or cloths the smell would be a sign of old water so those would be my surgestions to try & soilve this problem.

Hope this helps

Kenmore 2600 TOP LOADER smells like Mildew. I can hear water sloshing around under drum. Is that Normal?

The drain on all washers have this issue. Unless the drain hose runs down hill, when the pump stops, water runs back into the machine that was in the hose but was not drained.

Washer smells like mildew

This sounds like the pump is clogged up or the drain hose from the pump is retaining debris. The pump is easy to remove and check. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html check the video on how to take apart a direct drive washer. This will walk you thru the disassembly and the pump removal.

Mildew smell in towels after washing. Tried

Hi,
Everything that you did was good and right. Front loaders have a tendence to harbor mold and mildewy smells by the nature of their design. Cleaning the pump strainer, and repeating the steps that you took woll take care of the problem. The pump strainer is located between the drum and the pump, behind the kick panel of the washer. The strainer is connected to the drum with a rubber hose. Open and clean the strainer. While it is open, peer up into the pump, and see if you can see any other debris in there. Remove al that you can, and reassemble the strainer. Wipe down the seal faces at the door with a solution of bleachy/soapy water, and run a 'sanitary' load with bleach in all dispenser cups. Dump 1 cup of bleach also into the tub prior to starting the empty load. Use the hottest water setting. After the cycle ends, run another empty load to flush all traces of the bleach from the system. This should take care of the issue.

Best regards, --W/D--

Water won't dump

When you replace the pump, always to remember to makes sure the pump is pushed all the way in so that the shaft has a good grip. Try taking it out and pushing it all the way in. The 4 legs should touch the motor, as you put the 2 little clamps on the top and bottom.

Good luck, I'm pretty sure it's something really basic with the pump :)

My expensive lg washer makes my cloths smell

Water is staying in the drum because it does not have the ability to pump put all the water. The only fix to this is after every cycle, take the little drain hose located near the bottom of the unit where you have to remove the cover, and take out the plug and drain into a small trash can. You will get about 4 cups water out of the machine. If this water is left overnight, it starts to mildew and will be washed over your next load. It's a design flaw, but this is the only solution. And one other suggestion, after you are finished washing clothes for the day and after you've drained out the remaining water, leave the door open overnight for the moisture in the unit to dry out.

Tub smells like mildew. Possible water still in tub but not visable. When tub is shaken hard by hand, slight sound of water sometimes. Still cleans well.

You will never get all of the water out of a washing machine using the pump

The only way to do it is to take the drain hose out of the standpipe remove all clips so that it lays flat on the floor and put it into a bucket

Even then there will still be a little bit left in.

Run two very hot programs witha good dose of washing soda placed in the drum before you fill it

Leave the door open when the machine has finished to allow it to dry off

AFTER SPINNING, WATER IS LEFT SOMEWHERE IN THE DRUM. i CAN'T SEE IT BUT CAN HEAR IT AND THE WASHER SMELLS BAD.

Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

If you take off the bottom panel on the front of the washer, there is a little pump with a twist lid on it. Open that and see if there is anything plugging up the drain. We had a problem where a sock got sucked into it and it did the same thing.
