Water is leaking out of my 7 year old Kenmore built-in dishwasher at bottom right by what I think is the solenoid valve (2 wires going into white plastic fixture then into dishwasher)...how do I fix this?

Hi, The solenoid valve underneath is an electrically controlled valve that opens the let water in and then is supposed to close again when the dishwasher is full enough with water. There are screens in the entrance of the valve that should catch any dirt that is large enough to keep the valve from closing, but sometimes dirt will get through that gets under the seat of the valve and prevents it from closing and shutting off the water. When this happens the water will keep right on running in...till you manually turn it off with the valve under the sink.
Find the part, it is usually under your dishwasher on the right hand front corner. You will see the water connection going to it.
The find your model number for your dishwasher and go online to find the part. It is fairly easy to install, but it is in a bad spot and you will find yourself lying on the floor busting your knuckles to get it replaced....if you are not up for that, then hire a pro to come and do it for you. For some reason getting paid to bust your knuckles makes it a bit more worth it...:-)
Probably just hard water causing the solenoid to stay slightly open.
Shut off water
Remove 1/4 hose
Remove wire harness/plug
Remove other side hose should be a clamp.
Unscrew mounting bracket and replace in the same order.
Hope that helps
Temperature problem with water. Incoming water when filled should be no less then 1/2 inch below heater. If not, possible water valve. Incoming water temp. min after fill. 120 degrees. Missaligned door. One of door switches not activating. Bad circulation motor. Not throwing water over heater. Tech.sheet behind bottom panel. Will tell you. Shorted heater. When bottom panel is removed. Look for signs of water leaks. Hard water deposits on floor.
the fill valve solenoid has gone bad.u need to chg the fill valve assly.it is very easy to chge ad it is mounted on lhs bottom corner of the unit behind the toe panel.
Hello. Anything is worth trying! But I would recommend epoxy. It works alot better with plastic and rubber items. Most of the leaks I have found in Kenmore machines are at the water pump. You may want to take a peek while it's running, just stay away from the wires!! Thanks!
