Hello,George TIPS?I assume you are looking at the elements as they run.A 4 ton drive can keep active heat strips from glowing. What is your heat rise split.Meaning in/supply out/return temps?W1&W2 sequencer time delays can be up to 3 minutes.Take a AMP reading on 1 heat element supply wire with a volt meter. You can jump W1&W2 at the board for testing.

My lennox heat pump frequently shows df and cold air pumps out for about 5 minutes then restarts. what is causing this?

Its getting too cold outside for the heatpump to operate. It must defrost the coil. You should have backup electric heat inside your airhandler, possibly not setup or possibly not even there. On your tstat in settings or set up look for heat pump with back up electric heat

WIREIN HEAT PUMP FOR COOLING ONLY

You must wire Orange from heatpump low voltage wire to gether with your yellow s and you must have a common wire usealy common comeing out of heatpump should be black color than what ever color wire you have connected to common at t-stat and airhandler connect that to black wire at heatpump. To make sure blablack I s common follow wire up to board and it will be connected to C terminal now you will have ac all time. If you want heat remve Orange wire from reds at heatpump and you will get heat only.note when doing your wireing make sure high voltage is off to heatpump and airhandler hope this helps

Hook ignition wire

This is a typical 5 wire setup. The colors can change depending on the person installing the system, meaning if the installer liked using BLUE for cooling instead of YELLOW, that's how he hooked them up. If YELLOW wasn't available, they could of used BLUE or BLACK, and visa-versa. But, the wiring below is the most common. If you have a heat pump system, it will be slightly different. Hope this helps!

R- Red- Power 24v
G- Green- Fan
W- White- Heat
Y- Yellow- Cooling
C- Blue- Common

We just installed a dometic heat/air pump .#630515.321/65151.301co .the thermostat is not reading the heat pump and it also will not stay lite. Can you help?

It sounds like you have a problem with your wiring. You have to make sure that all signals are complete through out wiring. Ex. Y goes to the outdoor unit on usally yellow, G goes to the g signal on the airhandler, W goes to he w signal in the airhadler and outdoor unit. O/B goes to the oudoor unit, R goes to outdoor and airhandler, C goes to outdoor and Airhandler. Check your wiring and also make sure you have the correct thermostat, meaning you have a heatpump thermsotat.

I hooked up a coleman electric furnace to a janitrol condenser heat pump . The t-stat wires on electric furnace are red white green and yellow. I added a blue for common off of transformer for digital...

Hi, first of all you need to get a hand full of 5 amp auto type fuses and install one on the hot leg of the 24 volt secondary side of the transformer. Just use 2 female crimp on connectors and put the fuse in the middle of the hot wire. Saves $$$$ on replacing transformers when you have a dead short on the low or high voltage side of any transformer, just a trick of the trade, food for thought. Fuses are much cheaper. On your electric unit, you may not need the common on this to operate the digital stat if it has batteries. This may be your dead short. On the Janitrol condenser, the red is your 24v as you no. They are using blue in place of yellow for cooling. Red is hot, W is heat, G for fan, and blue is cooling on this Janitrol. Keep in mind you are connecting to a heat-pump also, so make sure the wiring is correct. Are you installing this for secondary Heat?? More then likely, the blue common you have added is the dead short as the janitrol uses the blue for a cooling relay in place of yellow. Anyway, use the 5 amp fuse, trick of the trade to save on the transformers. Please keep me posted, as I know know you have this under control.

I have a 3 ton Coleman heat and air pump and when I turn the air condition on the heat strip comes on at the same time

If you are calling for heat and the thermostat is set for 2 degrees higher than room temp, the heat pump and strips come on.
When the room temp and stat temp are less than 2 degrees the strips turn off.
That is, unless the installer wired the t-stat for the strips to stay on.
If they are coming on in the air/cool mode then you have a bad heat relay or a t-stat wire shorted.
