If you are connecting the unit by componet cables (RED,GREEN<BLUE) check the cables first to make sure all are connected. If you find they are ok then your red tube may not be lighting up. If you are using a cable box try connectioning the set direct to the cable outlet on your wall. You could also be missing red drive signal to the CRT, in which case service is needed.
On a projection television you will have to replace all three(red, blue, green) projection guns in a matched set, the reason is if you replace just the green gun, your picture will be over saturated with green light making your picture look green, because the new gun will be alot brighter than the red and blue guns. With that said, repair will cost approx.$400+, I've heard up to$600. Good luck !
Red color gun has failed, which will make the picture over saturated with the other two colors(blue, green) the bad news is the three color guns need to be replace in a set(all at the same time) because if you only replace the red it will over saturate the older blue, green guns then your picture will be mostly red.Unfortunently in most cases it's not worth the investment, better off to purchase a new tv. Good luck !
Several failures can cause a red picture but it sounds like if you are connected from the source with component video cables(red, blue, green)you may just have a bad cable, but you may have had a blue and/ or green projection gun failure, which would cause the red gun to over power the other colors(blue/green), if this is the case definently not worth the cost to repair, you have to replace all three guns at the same time costing $500+ to repair, invest that towards a nice new LCD panel TV. Good luck !
Your projection tv screen is made up of a mixture of red, green, and blue. If you are starting to see more green than any other, that means the red and blue light guns are warn out. This will be more expensive to repair than buying a new tv. :(
If you are asking about Guns in rear projection tv then answer is No. Rear projection TV has 3 Guns (CRTs), red-green and blue and each gun has its unique color phosphorus coating to produce its mono color (red /green /blue) and these are not interchangeable. Need further info, let me know.
your colour guns (that's what they call the light tubes that produce the 3 main colours, red/green/blue) need to be fixed. One or two of your guns need to have the liquid that protects the lens flushed out. I had the same thing and the repair man came in took the unit apart and removed one of my light guns (blue one) and showed me the dis-coloured liquid. He drained the liquid and added new clear liquid which protects the heating of the gun and everything was perfect again.
