Question about Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver
This means it is not reading the SD card and that it needs to be re-formatted.
This is best done in a card reader and not the tomtom itself.
Right click on it and select format select FAT32 as the files system
Now connect the tomtom but don't let tomtom home run. exit TTH if need be.
You now need to select your tom tom which will also show as a drive.
In windows explorer select tools then folder options. Click view and tick the box for "show hidden files and folders"
It may warn you but you can ignore it.
Then just copy ALL the files from the tom tom to your SD card
DO NOT USE CUT AND PASTE !
Once all the files are on switch off the tom tom and insert the SD card
It should now work

Is there a way to reformat my sim card without useing a card reader ?

Depending on the unit it will format it for ya. Just because there is a X on the SD card does not mean it is not formatted there could be other issues some sd cards have locks on the side if its locked well you cannot write to it and thus you get that fabious rex X threw it.

You can not use a sd card from one TomTom and put it into another TomTom. The operating system on the card is coded for each individual TomTom device. First try doing a reset with the card installed on your dads TomTom. The reset hole is on the bottom of the TomTom marked reset Use a streightened paper clip, insert the paper clip into the hole until you feel a click then hold it in for 20 seconds. If that didn't work and you have a card reader insert your dads sd card into the reader and make a backup of the everything on the sd card. Just copy and paste everything on the card to a folder on the desktop you have created on your desktop. Next delete everything on the sd card EXCEPT the maps and ttgo.bif or ttgo.bak file. Now that you have made a backup and deleted everything on the sd card except for the maps and ttgo.bif or ttgo.bak open TomTom Home. TomTom Home should see your card and install the operating system back onto the sd card. If it doesn't you may have to insert the sd card back into your dads TomTom and connect it to the pc. It may take a few times of doing this to get the latest operating system back onto your dads TomTom. You can do the same for your TomTom, but you cannot use any thing bigger than a 2 gb sd card. Do not get sdhc cards they won't work. This will only put the operating system for your TomTom onto the sd card. When you have installed the operating system onto your device it will say "no maps found", you will have to buy the map from TomTom..

Do a reset on the tomtom by pushing a paperclip into the small reset hole on the bottom. turn the unit on again and make sure the card is seated properly in the unit. Take the card out and reinsert it, restart the unit.

Some people have said to pull the SD card out and turn on the unit and then press the restart button in for 10 seconds. Once it has restarted put the SD card back in and turn it on again. Hope it works for you mate.

This problem is due to the memory card not containing the TomTom application or map. To update the application onto the memory card, Connect the device to your computer. Open the TomTom Home application. Click on 'Update My Device'. This should then install the application onto the SD card. Alternativly, you could perform all the steps above without the SD card in the device, this will install the application onto the internal memory. Note: you may also need to install your maps, voices, etc after you update.
